What's the one "fun" product or tool I should buy

Have you looked at, or thought about getting one of these?

{I know I have!}

I would never leave my garage if I owned one of those and I would probably detail every square inch of the undercarriage all the time.

If you like having the right tools to keep your car or truck in tip top shape how about the

Yikes - that may be a bit out of my "fun tool" price range.

The one big problem with scissor lifts is that they block access to most of the underside of the vehicle, limiting its true usefulness. They also take up a ton of floor space.

Danmar's MaxJax, on the other hand, is made for the home garage with limited overhead clearance and a dearth of extra floor space.

Just so you know, it weighs about 800 lbs. It's not that portable.

Unless you drive a truck or crossover, you'll need to also leave 2x10 boards on either side and drive up onto them every night. That's what they use at every dealership where I've seen the lift in use (usually during tire swap season, spring and fall). At 4.75" at its lowest, there is really very little clearance for most normal cars; most popular current sedans have an unloaded minimum clearance of 5 to 5.5 inches. Sit in the car and that drops. A sportier car will be even lower.

I'm not trying to yuck your yum, and I have no affiliation with Danmar, but for the average home mechanic/auto enthusiast, the MaxJax is better in so many ways... for the same money as the BendPak.

I did not know about this one, but it is on my radar now.

Thanks

Thanks to everyone for the replies.

I've got the Metro Blaster Sidekick in my shopping cart waiting for the next sale to roll around. Might still swap it out for something but for now it's the clear leader!

I would've saved my money instead of buying this and just invested in the cr spotless system. This is nice for blowing the water out of the crevices but it just blows the water around. You have to put a towel in the direction its blowing or it just keeps moving around.

Great for motorcycles and engines. Doesn't do it for me on the paint

You think it's too much to just leave in place. I'd put it right in the middle of the garage and leave it

I have the Dannmar Cadet. It is not that difficult to move around. The motor and pump are on a cart, and you use that as a fulcrum to wheel the lift around. I move mine to the center of my 2 car bay when I need it, and the rest of the time I store it underneath my atv in the 3rd car bay.

Here is a pic of mine. I bought it used for a grand.

These lifts look much smaller in pictures than they do in person, and they are well built. My main uses for a lift are tire rotations, oil changes, wheel work, etc., and a scissor lift works fine for those things.

As for the MaxJax, I like them but I would not have the room for something like that in my garage, as the posts would not allow me to park 2 vehicles in my 2 car bay.

I have a serious drip problem with the back of my car in the tail lights and also the side mirrors. This may be great to blow the water out of all the crevices (I don't mind having to catch it with a towel) rather than having to go back to the same spot 4 or 5 times to wipe up drips.

That said - It's in the lead but I'm open to swapping it out for something else!

The posts are removable (at 300 lbs, not something I'd want to do every day), perfect for the uses you describe. I need my slab replaced before I get a lift of any kind, but with my garage's configuration I'd likely leave the right side post mounted all the time and store the left side next to it.

As for the Metro Sidekick, I use mine almost everyday. It is a bit small for drying a whole vehicle (but I have done it more once), but works great for crevices, windows, wipers, grilles, wheels, etc. I am always finding a new use for it. I blow out polishing and applicator pads after cleaning them, carpeted floor mats, dry rubber floor mats after cleaning, blow off my clothes and skin after cutting the grass, you name it. I highly recommend it.

Other than warming and filtering the air, does it do anything a decent electric leaf blower can't? I use compressed air for crevices and trim, and ordered an Air Wand for my leaf blower.

I use a leaf blower sometimes, but I find it to be unwieldy and not as precise. I have hit the nozzle of my leaf blower on vehicles several times, luckily without creating serious damage to the paint. The sidekick has so many more uses, and is more convenient for me. I don't like to fire up my air compressor all the time, and my leaf blower is hanging on a wall on the other side of the garage, so I just pull this out of my cabinet and I'm good to go.

I have been debating getting either the Master Blaster or Air Force Blaster for drying the entire vehicle.

Not in my opinion.

The air stream coming out of my leaf blower is always warm.
To add: Its built-in filter is a breeze to keep clean.
