What's the one "fun" product or tool I should buy

As for the Metro Sidekick, I use mine almost everyday. It is a bit small for drying a whole vehicle (but I have done it more once), but works great for crevices, windows, wipers, grilles, wheels, etc. I am always finding a new use for it. I blow out polishing and applicator pads after cleaning them, carpeted floor mats, dry rubber floor mats after cleaning, blow off my clothes and skin after cutting the grass, you name it. I highly recommend it.
Wow, I used it for all the first things you mentioned... but drying pads and carpet/floor mats is a great idea! Thank you! :xyxthumbs:

Okay then - I've got a Metro Sidekick on order due for delivery on Wednesday! Going to clean my wife's floor mats next weekend and will put it to good use!

Awesome! Don't forget to post your experiences here.

I think a Grit Guard Pad Washer just jumped to the top of my toy wishlist. I'm a proponent of using compressed air to clean pads, until this week when I was forced to confine everything to indoors with the doors closed. Now with the new DIY LED light setup, I could see the mist and particulates kicked up off my Meg's Extra Cut MF pads hanging in the air all over the garage for an inordinate period of time. From that point forward I tried OTF, but the MF pads don't give up much to the cotton terry. I switched back to brushing the pad after every section and changing pads after every major panel, throwing the used ones in the DP pad cleaner bucket for a soak, agitating, rinsing and wringing in towels. Having four cutting pads helps. A Grit Guard Pad Washer would so speed things up.

"Fun"...Meg's DUB wheel cleaner! Spraying it on its green, then when it pulls out the dirt and iron it turns red, very cool indeed! Sure there's other products out there that do this but they don't cost under $10.00:thumbup:

Is there anything that is holding you back in your detailing?

Could you do better work if you had an extractor, steamer, lights, etc.

What is your least favorite part of detailing?

Choose a piece of equipment that will get the same result, but decrease the time spent on the task you dislike

-Vacuuming...Tornador Vac Attachment
-Interior cleaning...high pressure steamer

I personally hate water spots and think that they significantly increase the time spent to get the same result versus using DI water. My dream purchase would be a CR Spotless and a garage to put I in.

Agreed. I have the garage (cluttered, but I make do). But DI water on demand would be just simply awesome. But I think til remain a long-off dream because of the media cost. Even being as careful as possible with my fireman's nozzle, a 2BM wash would cost maybe $8 in replacement medium, never mind the initial system price. RW would be a lot better, closer to $1 a wash, and using it to mix up my dilutions of other products works out quite a bit cheaper than buying jugs of DI water from Walmart (currently $1.39 a gallon).

Personally, I hate claying the most, so my wishlist includes the entire range of clay substitutes now. I own a Medium AutoScrub, but will soon get the Fine as well as both sponges and a Fine cloth.

That number seems really high. How did you come up with that number?

Most DI users only use it for the final rinse to displace the tap/hose water used during the wash process

EDIT: Grabbed this from another Forum

Input TDS Level vs. Expected Yield (# of Gallons):

50 ppm - 1600 gallons
100 ppm - 800 gallons
200 ppm - 400 gallons
400 ppm - 200 gallons

Wikipedia indicates that Montreal has around 112 PPM, so the cost per gallon here would be about 12 cents

Using the replacement cost for resin in the DIC-20 of $45.00 per bag x2 bags to refill the unit

AGO will likely price match vs. the CR Spotless Website Price
