What's the opposite of a "Chick Car"?

"Honking cams" and 73' Camaro....did it have some experimental engine from Zora Arkus Duntov? Yeah those "muscle cars" back then really weren't that fast, even your HEMI Cuda's would turn 13's to high 12's, hell my 87' GN did that with bolt ons and stock/tired engine and trans w/100k+!

Yeah, 135 on those type of tires and suspension back in the day must've been scary for sure! Oh yeah, just splitting hairs on the "honking cam(s) wording and thought it was funny.

Some were scary indeed. Like I ended up with a now VERY RARE Alabama Trooper Javelin. Those had a 425hp 401, automatic, slap stick, 4:10 locker, riding on SEVENTY SERIES bias ply tires!!!!!! Holy CRAP! That thing would break loose at 50, slapping it down to 2nd and stomping it. Try a WOT start and it wouldn't stop smoking till you let off, period. Just freaking sat there and boiled the tires. It was stupid!

I had a 71 Comet GT with one of those big ol honkin' cams in a 4 bolt 302 w/ .612 lift, Speed Pro 12:7 pop-up pistons with shaved 351 heads (14:1 compression), 850 NASCAR carb and a 9" rear gear from under a Torino with a 429/shaker that was 1½" too long on each end! That puppy would pull the front wheels off the ground and my wife drove it too. (well, girlfriend at the time). ;) It'd do 12's all day on street tires at a whopping 6mpg on 103 octane (or better), (which was most of the darned time).

I saw a F-250, at least a 6" lift, and a exhaust pipe like a chimney (diesel), on the back, painted in bold letters "This is NOT my boyfriend's truck"
Sure enough, girl driving - looked like she could be Shania Twain's sister, I was in LOVE, LOVE I tell ya, then the wife poked my ribs and said, hey, the light turned green.......damn, I was living the life in those 25 seconds!

Isn't it great that they can't read minds......yet....

I saw the new Viper inperson at the Chicago Auto Show and it is for, no doubt about it, NOT A CHICK CAR!

So what did you think of the new Vette after seeing it in person? I was there on Saturday. The rear of it is still ugly IMO, but it did look better than seeing it in the pictures.

Even to be fair we went back and looked at it twice, the rear is fugly and NOT a Corvette, period! Speaking of the rear, the valance/diffusor goes up too high and being gloss black looks cheap as hell! Yet another segway, gloss black and those wheels being done like that....CHEAP AS HELL and that fad is going away. The rear diffusor needs to be painted body color to "help" with the rear until they get enough hate mail and make much needed corrections!! Remember what Jeep did back in 87'......they made a grave error and fixed it as soon as they could, you don't mess with an iconic look!!!

I do like the interior, a lot, especially the seats! They now have fat Merican seats, standard and now, for the first time ever in a Corvette, seats that actually hold you in place and look at home in a sports car, what a concept, congrats GM, pretty bad when a 10 year old Neon SRT4 has better seats, way to flip the calender, LOL!

Betcha' that sucker had been 'tuned' to the point where it'd smoke the tires down to the nubs.

And on that Shania Twain thing.... Oh boy! Last she was on tour, (before she got talked into living with Mutt in the middle of nowhere) we saw her. She rode a little cart about 5' high around the arena wearing her classic short-shorts. I not only got close enough to smell her, but touched her thigh. Didn't' wash that hand for months! Yup, she has a special 'talent' indeed!!!!!! Im the MAN

I wholeheartedly agree about the Stingray. It's one of the best looking Corvettes ever made, the best looking since the 84, EXCEPT for the rear.
The front clip looks phenomenal, and the doors and roof are nice. The interior is great as well. However, the steering wheel is a little bit ugly compared to the previous one. The previous steering wheel is one of the best looking steering wheels I have ever seen, and yet they changed it, just to make it look different.

The rear looks like across between a Lamborgini Reventon and some Japanese sports car. The tail lights are so wrong. It does look really cheap.
The entire rear needs to be redone.
The wheels could be nicer because they don't could harmonize with the overall design.
They are also difficult to clean. I haven't tried, but you can see the shape is more complicated than needed.

Not only is that particular design hard to clean but then you factor in the gloss black and you've got a recipe for disaster IMO. I've seen another wheel for the car though, much nicer and they're silver, one can only hope the gloss black ones aren't popular and they realize that mistake and then move to the rearend and fix that too. There's some Italian company that sells a $3k conversion for the tailights, maybe that will make then re-consider and if enough people actually buy then, well once again, one can only hope.

The opposite of a "Chick car" is a "Manly man-mobile".

Like a ZR1. Wimps need not apply.

For the record, it's the only car I've ever been afraid of.

THIS is the opposite... (I see chicks in Vettes all day long)

... because they can get an automatic in a Vette.

Sure they can. Seems like there's a Mustang or 4 with an automatic as well. Everything but a Shelby.

'Vette has 3 models. 2 are manual only - Z06 and ZR1.

I'd guess there are more chicks driving Mustangs with automatics than there are Corvettes with automatics.

Regardless, ZR1 is a manly-man mobile, which is the opposite of a chick-car.

Right but even then the only Mustang I compare to any Vette is the GT500, and even then I still don't like putting the two in the same comparison. Which I know I did in that post, so shame on me.:o

I can agree though to the ZR-1 being a manly-man mobile.:xyxthumbs:

I hate any comparison between a Mustang and Corvette, 2 different cars. That being said, IMO the Mustang GT w/Trak-Pak is the best "bang for the buck" out there and for a few G's more, the Boss 302 is even better.

Nothing to be afraid of - respecting the power is the key.

It does take a little "get to know each other" time.
