What's the strangest thing you've ever found?

I remember a long time ago I was on another car forum and it was in a classic car that someone found a bone from a human body, like a arm or part of a leg. Ya really crazy stuff, I forgot what forum it was on though, was gonna see if the thread was still open to post a link.

That's a lot of crazy finds you guys found!

My son found a pair of thong panties when cleaning up our neighbor's Caddy XLR. Bad thing was she told him to put everything he found in a bag for her. We were worried about embarassing her but went ahead and did it. She looked through the bag when he took the car back and said "Damn, I was wondering where these were!".

Don't think this falls in the "strange" category, but found $1000 underneath a rear floormat. Ten $100 bills, crisp and clean. I knew my customer just bought this car within the last month so wasn't sure he was testing me or what. Of course I knew what the right thing to do was, but decided to call up some friends and get their input. Very happy to say that everyone said I should mention the find to my client even after informing them that he just bought the car very recently. When I was finishing up, he came outside to check out his car and I mentioned that I found something under the rear floormat. I pulled out the cash and he literally almost fell backwards. It wasn't his money. I'm not a thief; I despise thievery pretty much above all else but I gotta say, the first few seconds after he told me it wasn't his I thought "Damn, that's a $1000 bucks right there". I'm pretty sure that it would haunt me forever if I would've just pocketed it and said nothing. It was almost a relief to give it to him and he could do what he thought was best. I really thought he was testing me. I've never thought once about keeping anything I've in found in vehicles; I do know other detailers(losers) who have told me they kept things found in cars. That's despicable. Nothing much lower in my book than a thief. On the upside, he loved the way his car looked and he ended up tipping me $100. Never found out if he tried to contact the previous owner but I felt really good driving away. It's still the biggest tip I've ever received.

One of the sickest thing was a used tampon wrapped in toilet tissue in a ladies CRV underneath the driver seat. A little more cleaning underneath uncovered a small 2 x 2 instructors manual for a female vibrator. I threw out the tampon, but put the small instruction manual in the glove box. Makes you kind of wonder where else is going on in traffic.

Omg.. That's just disgusting! That is why we where gloves people! Holy crap..

If I found a used tampon I'd go get the lady and ask her to remove it herself! (ok I probably wouldn't, but that is what my mind is screaming right now)

I read some tidbits of this thread to my wife, and I'm pretty sure she will never agree to assist me with interior detailing should I ever get into the business!

But this stuff doesn't write itself! Amazing. Really highlights the importance ethics and a bit of tact in the workplace.

I copied and pasted this from the other strangest thing thread in Detailing 101

Don't know if this counts since it wasn't while detailing.

Just after I graduated High School I got a summer job as a rental car pick up driver at LAX for Avis. Customer's were always running late and would just leave the cars in the "no parking at any time White Zone" and just drop the keys in a kiosk provided for that purpose. They were billed for the drop off and for whatever charges were owed.

And the other guys told me "just keep anything that you find in the cars unless it's identifiable personal property"

So by the end of summer I had a lifetime collection of sunglasses, lighters, assorted drugs (legal and illegal) articles of clothing, some I wouldn't touch! And an amazing collection of brand new, sealed booze. Some of it pretty good stuff.

But the very best find must have been from a big time coke dealer. 6 kilos of pure, unstepped on coke and two MACHINE GUNS! I was too chicken to keep any of that stuff! We called the LAPD Airport division to collect that find. But damn, I really wanted to keep the machine guns. They were Uzi's. In a carry bag with extra magazines, loaded!

Did also find an amazing large collection of still warm, unopened fast food that people got from the drive thru places lining the roads going to the airport. We always shared those with the other guys.

Never found any body parts except for an artificial foot and calf. I wonder how the guy forgot it?
