What's Up With This Paint?!

I was out walking my dog and saw this car hood. I know what a "normal" clear coat failure looks like, but what is this?

crows feet? paint failure? I wouldn't try polishing that off.. lol

Before I posted, I tried to find a similar paint problem using Google but I didn't see anything like it. I saw crow's feet, but those appear to be cracks. This on the other hand, these were raised, like a diamond plate.

I guess that would be alligatoring. Might be that some filler was used that shrunk, although that's an awful big area for that.

Genesiscoupe hit it, call it Crow's feet or cracking, the paint is bad. The only thing that could be done to make it look any better is Megs #7, but the cracks are there and will not go away. Depending on the car depends on whether you invest the money or waste the money fixing it

That's an awful big crow...maybe pterodactyl feet, lol

I did read somewhere that too much paint will creak over time..so perhaps that is the case? Repainted and too much paint..I think anything over 12 MIL's is too much.
