I was never into naming my cars or choosing a theme song until recently. I've owned my garage queen El Camino since 1993. In 2009, a job change and loss of a company car necessitated that it go into DD use for almost a year. The daily exposure to the elements only accelerated the deterioration of the OEM lacquer finish. Cracking, fading, lacquer checking, buffer burns, I've got all the diseases. That's when I joined up here in the hope of salvaging what's left of the old paint. At the same time I was encouraged by my employer, a Chevrolet Dealer, to enter the All-Chevy judged show that we host annually. Thanks primarily to the teaching of Mike Phillips as well as the contributions from the members here, the scorecard shows five entries, five trophies, usually competing against older trucks with frame-off restos.
Every time I plug in the polisher and power up the swirl-finder light, a couple lines from Rod Stewart's "Maggie May" comes to mind. "The morning sun, when it's in your face really shows your age. But that don't worry me none, in my eyes you're everything"

So I guess now I do have a theme song.
