Specifically the "Buck Moon", coincidentally this year the same date as the first lunar landing 55 years ago. Even with some cloudiness here it was more than bright enough to shine clearly through but with a kind of cool orange hue. I remember where I was that day - we lived on the USN Air Station Annex in Bermuda back then and everyone gathered at the various clubs on the beach to listen and watch. Back then the world seemed to be full of nothing but promise and wonder.
I had to look that up, I've never heard it called the Buck Moon before, we don't use it here, probably because we're in mid- winter here, and while we do have deer, they're not native.
I missed the moon landing, I wasn't born till 1970, but I have read a few books on the space race and some of the astronauts, and they did convey the excitement of the time. I have been out to "the dish", a radio telescope out near Parkes that relayed the signals as Armstrong took the first steps. I've also been down to Tidbinbilla Deep Space Tracking Station, they cover this side of the planet for NASA.

You painted a cool image of that, since you noted the "Buck Moon" is a coincidence, triggered by a post by an Aussie and the subsequent discussion of the NASA tracking stations there, your imagery just reminded me of the scene in The Right Stuff during Glenn's mission.
You guys might like this as well, I picked up this book at a market stall, full of beautiful hi-res prints from the moon missions. I got it for $20, it was only after I'd paid that he realised he'd put the wrong price on it, it was meant to be $50. Too late, all transactions are final.
Edit: I just remembered that The Right Stuff was the very first DVD that I bought after getting my first DVD player.

We are supposed to get a lot of rain from Debby. We are in the 6 to 8 inch range per NHC This will be the first hurricane/tropical storm rain of any significance in quite some time.

The rain has arrived. Worse in eastern NC with tornados. The center of the storm will pass a little west of us but not at strengths seen at coast and down east.
It is windy (not too bad) and periods of heavy rain. Usually this leads to power outages as ground gets saturation and trees fall on lines.
We have had a lot of rain over the last 2 weeks so not like we need any of it. I need to mow!

It's supposed to be 96 degrees today and if this matters, a "feels like" temp of 110, humidity today and tomorrow is going to be a somethin'[emoji15]

Eh, feels like I'm back home on days like this. Sorry for the Chicago Tri folks that had to run/bike/swim in this yesterday after being so much more temperate earlier in the week but for me it's fine.

That's not humidity that's the visual manifestation of the depression emanating from drivers having to be on the Kennedy Expressway.
When it's not raining/snowing/sleeting I try to take in a walk at lunch, alternate between south around the Planetarium or north to the end of Navy Pier and back. Both clock in around ~5 miles depending upon detours. Was looking forward to today but meetings ran long and had an early PM con-call with my wife's Dr. Anywhoo . . . finally was free around 4 PM and had to go to Walgreens as follow up from that Dr. call. Was expecting to emerge into a nice thick soup but instead was shocked at how (relatively) dry it seemed given the doomsday scenarios the weather critters were spewing on the TV. Definitely hot but nothing like the S.C. Lowcountry or central Alabama from my younger days. Roundtrip to Walgreens is about 2 miles and I didn't even break a sweat - very disappointed!
