wheel and tire storage

I still don't get it. If the tire was kept inflated, there's simply no way that can happen. It would have to get over 200° for heat to be a factor.
No idea, it was quite a number of years ago. its likely that it had a leak and lost pressure over the summer. Only thing I can think of.

Cheap/worn/damaged tires could cause that.

I stack my 315's and don't have an issue. Just put away properly inflated and clean. Dressing/waxes wont make a difference if stored inside. Those help against the elements and use, two things that while in storage they shouldn't be subjected to.
