Wheel brush to clean gloss black wheels

I was wrong, I don’t use a Mother’s Wheel Brush, I use an Oxo Wheel Brush that is no longer available. I compared it to the Mother’s Wheel Brush I just bought for my friend and the Oxo is definitely softer.

I have the same brush and LOVE it! It's too bad it's discontinued because I would buy a bunch more.

Thanks so much guys for all your feedback.

I was more concerned about the Speed Master/Daytona style brushes leaving marks within the barrel of the wheel.

That’s the same thing I was thinking when the comment was made about the Mother’s Wheel Brush potentially causing scratches. So unless the paint is soft on your wheels, you should be fine but of course you need to test to validate the brushes don’t cause marring. I don’t use the Daytona style brushes often on my bronzish painted wheels but I have used them and again, no marring noticed with those either.

But if you’re worried about those brushes, look at the Microfiber Madness Incredibrushes as those are nice and much softer. When doing periodic thorough cleaning of the wheels, I use the Incredibrush Flat and Incredimitt now as I don’t like getting sprayed by the Speedmaster brushes but the Oxo Wheel Brush is what I use for regular wheel washes.

Currently using a plush microfiber. The wheels have a coat of Optimum Hyper Seal on them. My gf's Jeep has regenerative braking, and I believe it cuts down on brake dust, because there is almost none on them when I wash them.

I'll hit them with Opti-Clean and wipe them down.

I just got a wheel woolie for the barrels. I'll probably pre-treat with Opti-Clean, and wash with the ONR / WW combo. The open design of the wheels will allow for a microfiber wipe down after.

It’s not the regenerative braking, it’s the composition of the disc brake pad. The more performance brake option that you add to the car, the dustier and dirtier it is. For example the standard brakes on a C7 Corvette are pretty clean, the wheel doesn’t need to be cleaned more than once a month. However if you get the Z 51 performance option which enhances the brakes and other things, the brakes/wheels are dirty in a matter of days.Same thing with Bmw’s M cars and M Packages, they dust immediately, whereas one of their standard cars stay pretty clean through the month. I’ve owned both….

I’ve read tons of post where people say they’ve used them with no scratching. I’ve just now got the courage to use one on my satin black wheels

I have matte black Method wheels and have used the flagged tipped Mothers Brush with no issues.

Had a few of them. That wheel brush rocked! Sorry they stopped making them!

Usually a boars hair brush, sometimes wheel-woolies, occasionally both.
