I used eagle on a-z wheel cleaner pm my stock 2004 gto wheels. Now there are like run marks on whhel where cleaner was sprayed. It said it was safe for aluminum and factory clear coated wheels but I guess not. I scrubbed the wheel as soon as I sprayed the cleaner...I didn't let it sit on the wheels and I rinsed them immediately. Please tell me my wheels ate not ruined.

I agree with Mike and if you could post pictures makes it a lot easier to help you.

I took a look at Google to see what type of wheels come on a stock 2004 Pontiac GTO. From the looks of it, it appears to be polished aluminum. Since it's from the factory, I would assume it is coated with a clear coat similar to what is found on your paint. There are some great articles that explain how to see if your wheels are coated or not aluminum.

Don't worry too much. Regardless, I think that a good polishing would save them, regardless of if it has a clear or not. First things first, however: take some pictures so other, more experienced professionals may comment on your situation. Mike has given some great advice regarding before/after pictures if you have them. Also, it never hurts to call or email the manufacturer. They know their product better than anyone.

In the future, if you want to go the OTC route, aluminum wheel cleaners are generally more gentle than all-wheel cleaners. I know this sounds crazy since all-wheels include uncoated aluminum but it's true. Just FYI...

White Diamond is an excellent aluminum wheel cleaner/polish. Autozone sells it. Shake it up really good and be sure to wear gloves.

If you spray strong Wheel cleaners on your wheels while they are hot it will definitely damage them. That's a bummer you may be able to polish them back though.

I have an 05 gto so I know those wheels well. I would try some never dull to clean them and then hit them with meguires 105/205 and they should clean up. Make sure the never dull is a clean piece

you have some great replys already but try some rubbing wax on the rim it should take the haze away ..good luck

I contacted eagle one and they have sent me an insurance claim form. I have to give them an estimate for what it would cost to have them refinished and an estimate to have them replaced. Hopefully all goes well. Thanks for your replys.

If they are the stock rims they are painted and clear coated.

It's possible that they were not cool when you cleaned them or the cleaner was left to dwell way too long.
