Wheel cleaning issue

Due to a delayed brake job (lol) the rear wheels on the LR3 were covered in metal shavings. I got most of them off with lots of time, pressure washer, Meg's All wheel cleaner and a stiff brush. But there's some hideous stuff left...where do I go from here? Iron X or something?

Iron X would be what I'd try first. The paste may be better here so it can have additional dwell time.
 
I would try iron x like stated and then try a little bit of claying barring to see if it helps
 
I second what others have posted...

...also I have used steam and clay to tackle this plenty of times.

  • Iron-X

Allow product to sit for a minute or two. Use a soft brass wire brush and scrub carefully to dislodge and remove particles. You may need to repeat.
 
Thanks for the suggestions...I just ordered some IronX gel so hopefully I can get that crap off.
 
IronX is the better choice. It's safer and how often will you really need wheel brightener? I bet not often enough to need that gallon size that gets diluted 1:4.

If you don't wanna buy the gallon, the OTC Meg's Chrome Wheel Cleaner works almost as well. It's similar "acid" I believe. At least it works similarly.

But, the gallon may come in handy. As, you never know when you will need to clean something nasty.
 
Are brass brushes really a safe option here? Is it because there is no clear coat? Sorry I'm new and just looking for clarification. Thanks.
 
Make sure you get some small brushes that can get into those crevasses and works the product. All the product in the world will only help so much without proper agitation.
