I need some advice/help on wheel. I'm doing my neighbor's car while he's on vacation. The paint is good because it's somewhat new, but the wheels- geez. I washed the wheels w/ 3M OTC car wash; used variety of brushes (all suggested & sold by AutoGeek).
3M had minimal affect, used DP Cleanse-All Exterior Cleaner w/ brushes and that cleaned most of it. But the last remnant just won't come off. So, pic 1 before washing; pic 2 after a couple of passes with Daytona brush, last two pics are after 45 minutes of scrubbing w/ Daytona brush & DP Cleanse-All Exterior.
 
The BMW wheels are known to have hard to remove break dust. From the photos it is mildly pitted.
I suggest Meguiars wheel brightner (gallon only) or Stoners Tarminator.
I had very good luck with Stoners on a BMW wheel with same type of embedded dirt.

I'm interested as well. I sort of have the same issue with my Cobra but I'll admit I wasn't always into washing and detailing as I am now.

Sonax will definitely take care of that. But if you can't get to some Sonax before he gets back, have you tried claying? You'll probably need a medium-heavy clay but it can probably be gotten rid of (With a lot of time and effort, especially on those intricate BMW wheels).

Sonax would definitely be the easiest, and quickest option.
 
@Snowking. Did the Poorboys...no match. @Emilie, got a brush like that, didn't even think about using it...thanks. @Cobalt9123, did the clay thing, probably too mild a clay, but I should have time to get Somax. Thanks folks...I'll let you know what happens.

If you have time to get the Sonax, definitely get it! Save yourself the work! You will literally just have to spray it on..wait a bit, agitate a little, and that stuff will rinse right off. Make sure to take pictures of it in action/after :dblthumb2:
 
I've heard good things about the P21S Wheel GEL cleaner, make sure it's the GEL one.
 
I'd blast them with an otc $6 Mother's or Meguiar's wheel cleaner appropriate for the type of metal. Maybe a Mother's or Meg's all purpose wheel cleaner. They make great wheel products and are readily available and inexpensive and they work.
 
There is a Youtube video showing the Sonax and the Flash Brown Royal wheel cleaner Wheel Cleaners and Polishes and the BR out performed the Sonax.I have using the Brown Royal for a while now and it is good stuff and at a great price.Works good at removing tar on quarter panels and fender wheels also...
 
Wow, so I'm finishing up today's work on my neighbor's BMW and UPS shows up with my order; SWEET! First off, many thanks for your advice: C30-Mike, got Stoners it works great. Emilie, Thought I had similar brushes, did not, ordered your suggestion, they came in; SWEET! Dubbin1, ordered the Somax, came w/the order; SWEET! Thanks folks! With hurricane Alex throwing some rain bands at me today I had like 10 minutes to test run the products. I'll post pictures.
 
Just ordered Flash Brown Royal wheel cleaner next week will give a try on some really dirty wheels
