When dogs get old...

Sorry to hear Dave. Hang in there!

Years ago (when i was just a kid) we had Patches that gave us lots of love and when she was too old we showed her compassion and love and had to let her go. Now I'm 40 and we have a family dog, he's still young and we fret the day we know. Our dog Wilson is like a family member to us. I can tell that Jack is the same to you. I believe dogs help teach us unconditional love and its very hard to think about that void.

May you find peace in knowing that you are doing what is best for your Jack.

Peace to you sir, your girl Jack has been fufilled with a life of family love and compassion.

Dave, I truly believe she’ll be in a better place where there is no pain and she’ll patiently wait for her best friend. Rest assured that she loved you as much as you loved her.

Im very sorry to here that. When i had to put my 14 year old dog down, I held it together pretty well until I had to hand her over. Right after that I started crying so hard I could barely sign my credit card recipe. Stay strong.

Wow. Very sorry to hear that. The memories will always be with you

Jack will be in a better place and waiting for you paitently,I'm sure.

My Prayers are with you and Jack and Dave,If you need someone to talk to, I'm just a PM away....

Evening Dave,
My heart is with you and your beloved pet. May you both find peace in the love you have for each other.
I Believe with all I am that there is a special place already set aside for her. I Believe that when she comes to the edge of all that can be done;
You must believe.....She will stand or she will be given the wings to fly. You have done your part now... let her soar. My prayers are with you both. May Peace be with you both. Stay Strong

Dave, I am so sorry to hear this. Please know that I am there for you in spirit. My dog Roscoe is 15 (I am 24 now and have had him since I was 9 years old) and having old dog troubles. I know I may not have him this time next year. There is nothing easy about losing a beloved pet, but I sincerely hope you find comfort in the memories you shared together. Take care, my friend. :grouphug:

Dave,
I am sorry to hear of Jack’s decline. I know today will be very difficult and for you to walk that final mile with such a loyal friend is a true testimony to your character. It’s always tough knowing what the right thing to do is but even tougher doing it.
All my support,

Craig

We are so very sad to hear such news.

Sorry to hear this Dave. Our thoughts are with you in this hard time.

Our 10 year old Dachshound just had surgery to remove 2 big tumors, and we thought we might have to do put him down. It's tough to think about it.

Thanks for talking to me on the phone the other day VT. Your encouragement has helped me in making the right decision. We have a 10:30 appointment this morning. I just wanted to thank you all before I leave out to do this. Dad07, I got your PM and I thank you for that. Have a great and prosperous new year all..!!

Hang in there buddy...

Been there done that myself with my Boxer, Crab Bait, which I got the week after I left the hospital after losing my right leg. I knew when I left the hospital I didn't want to be alone and I really like Boxers so i got me a little boxer puppy and she was by my side till the day I had to have her put down due to cancer.

I raised her from a pup to the age of 13 which is a good run for Boxers.

It's never fun but will add to your character after you get through this valley and come out the other side, and you will come out the other side...

Dave,

Time will help make the pain bearable, but the memories of Jack will never fade. You are a better man for having had her in your life.

Dave,
So sorry to hear the sad news. My eyes are welling up as I type this. As my own girls get older, I find myself at times being preoccupied with the inevitable instead of enjoying the present. Jack is blessed to have a dad like you and it would be nice if every dog could be so lucky. Soon she' ll be in the arms of an angel on her way non-stop to heaven. Dogs are truly the sinless among us, they possess all of our (human's) good qualities and none of the bad.
God Bless
Joe

Sorry Dave, hang in man your doing the right thing. Went thru something like this when I was younger with a large St. Bernard, I've never wanted another dog the rest of my lfe.

Dave so sorry to read the final episode of Jacks life. I had to put down my rescure Greyhound a couple of years ago at 14. Gilligan was his name and he was my constant companion through lifes tough times. I too struggled and waited and waited to do the right thing and frankly waited too long. He had a spinal collapse and I found him on the floor unable to move his hind legs and trying to move. You are doing the right thing by doing it at the right time as your vet said. Take care and time heals all wounds and I'm sure there's a Jack II out there waiting for you.
