I don't feel so bad for you.

Ages ago, I detailed my parents' black Mercedes for them over the course of two days. Clay, decon, Menzerna Intensive Polish (IP2000) , Menzerna P085RD. Two coats of sealant. Absolutely pristine results. It rained a few days later and my father took the car to get washed at a gas station "hand wash". Car completely screwed up in 20 minutes. Even my mother was upset at my father.
