My mother in law started calling me Dubbin when I was like 13 (I was best friends with my wifes brother) and it just stuck with me. I have no idea where it came from or why she gave me that nick name.
Been a Yankee fan since 1969. My father, cousins, lots of neigbors were Yankee fans. Bad year though, as that was the year of the 1969 Miracle Mets. I didn't get to see a good team until CBS sold them to Steinbrenner in 1973 for $10 million. Took him 5 yrs to get us the first WS. Thurman Munson is still my all-time favorite Yankee.
Well, my forum names origin is no where near as clever or interesting as many of yours. My name was given to me by my parents; BobbyG so I thought I'd keep using it...
They called me Wax Gorilla at an Auto Auction one time when we washed and AIO'ed 225 Vehicles in a 24 hour period with 7 hours notice. I not only was paid quite well the Auction Owner gave me a Fully Restored 1952 Ford F100 as a gift. I went onto prep and clean over 20,000 units over the course of many many years - He always called me the WAX GORILLA ! - I wonder if he even knew my name - I know his accounts payable department did !
I used to work with a great guy from Puerto Rico. His English wasn't very good. Very religious man. His faith made him one the happiest people you would ever to care to meet. He would tell people all the time that he loved Yeebiz. He would also tell people when they were angry that they needed to have Yeebiz in their heart. Used to crack me up. He passed away. Started using the name in honor of him. He is with Yeebiz now.
LongDX : Two fold. It refers to the often lenghtly work commutes I had (at one point 70miles one way) that thankfully are in the past. I like my 15-20 minute commute now(short enough to not be annoying, long enough to enjoy audiobooks).
The second reference is that I used to repair old tube radios and enjoy trying to tune in a faraway AM station (DXing).
My handle originally was Val3ntin0 which is the handle I've used in online games for years. I don't remember how I got that one. Then after reading a few of Mike's posts on setting up a detailing business I decided to change to Pristine Image as that's the company name.
Back when I joined Detail City in early 2004, I took the name Keeotee because it was the name of one of my dogs. I kept that name when I joined here this year. Over there I have a pic of my dog, which I had to give up, but the size is unfortunately just slightly too large to use here - as I understand the size limitations.
