Wow, my first comment is you're very affordable. The second one is No Clay or nanoskin on the wax package?

what do you think to cheap? I'm 18 this is a side job. We offer compounding and clay as extras clay being 15-20 and compounding 30-40.

Mine is a side gig also. PM me your email, I'll send you my menu. I'm back logged until mid July at this point. Nobody has balked at my prices yet.

A full detail for $60 WITH wax? No way...

Plus, I've yet to see a car clean enough that I feel comfortable waxing without clay bar or nanoskin, so in made it mandatory. I'm in the Great Lake States so we have some pretty bad weather.

I guess a big question is, what kind of product are you using? Wax, pads, etc...

No comment on pricing, I would put them on post-it boards ad grocery stores, hardware stores and any where they have one in your area. Maybe talk to some local business owners and see if you can leave a stack on their check out counter. Some will appreciate your entrepreneurship and won't mind.

1) armor all??? No way, I'd rethink that.

2) Your silver package includes Bronze + Silver?

3) What is your Bronze Package? I assume the first, but it's not labeled.

4)What is the middle package? It just says "Bronze Package +". But what package is that? Again, how do I know what the Bronze Package is when you didn't label it?

I hope your fliers are much more thought out than that, because what you typed is rough and has a long, long way to go. Just constructive criticism. If you end up revising your flier content, I'd post it to AGO or get it revised for proper grammar since, no offense, your post was full of incorrect grammar. I'm not trying to be a grammar nazi...I just want you to have the best fliers you can. If you don't sound professional and your layout is all jacked up, you won't get any business.

Pertaining to your question on where to put them, I would not put them on people's cars. That is my only advise on that haha

I would NOT put them on peoples cars. As a car lover I wouldn't want someone touching my car without asking me. No way would I touch someone else's.

:iagree:

Do not leave anything on someone's person vehicle. More than likely it will end up on the ground or in the trash. I hate to find things like that on my vehicles.

The prices are way to low.

Use photos of your work you do not want to mislead your customers.

You should re think everything you have there is not enough info there. I know you want to get out and make money but start small. Friends, family, and neighbors are all get starting points.

At those prices you will be out of business in the first 2 months and way over worked for no money.

Where to put B&W flyers? With photos no doubt?

I know where I'd put them.

Money better spent would be 500 full color, 2-sided business cards. Put them everywhere you can, except on peoples vehicles!

Of course ymmv, just throwing that out there.....

Here is mine to give you an idea. I posted them at all the grocery stores in my area and my local oriley auto parts had a cork board so I posted one on that too. My younger sister is in college so she poseted some at her school as well. Also community centers and churches will allow you to post them there as well. Make sure you get permission first. Hope this helps

I agree. Black and white flyers will not represent you in the best light. Also, what's the point of images if they're in black and white. Can't see the detail. I understand this is a side "job" but based on your pricing and plan of attack/marketing, you should really rethink things. Seems like you could use some experience. Do you have insurance? What happens if you mess up a clients car?

Not trying to dissuade you at all, its great you're excited, but bad reputations are hard to break.

As others are saying it needs to be in color. No one will stop to look at black and white pictures of cars on your flyer then notice what your service is. The color will catch their eyes. If it is noticed as a black and white flyer it tarnishes your image and starts you off on a bad foot. Your flyer is a representation of you.

I feel as though you might be putting the horse before the buggy. Are you sure you are ready to turn what you know into a business? If you are doing business as a business name ppl will write you checks in that name. Do you have a business bank account to cash it? Judging by your initial post I feel as though you might not be ready yet. There is nothing wrong with that either. None of us were born masters of this trade. We all started from the bottom and learned by trial and error. But if you ask any one here that does this for a living or as a side job they will tell you it's not something they dove into and that it took them a very long time to learn how to do quality work and how to turn their knowledge into a means of income. You're on the right track and came to the right place but I think there are some things you need to rethink.

1. Clay should always be offered before wax

2. Your prices are to low to finish the job happy

3. Armor all is well known but it's lost popularity since better safer things have became available I'd use something else. 303 is a good choice

4. Use color flyers

5. Organize your packages better. Bronze silver gold platinum or stage 1 2 3 4 or even basic good better best. People like options

6. DO NOT USE GOOGLE PICTURES! I learned this the hard way... I posted my website idea on here a while back and was asking about using Google images. Everyone said not to but I thought I knew better. Well I posted an add on craiglist first as the picture I posted was what I could do any way. I got a call that day and was super excited. Only to find out it was some guy saying that I'm a fake and that my pictures can be found on chemical guys forum... I was humiliated and embarrassed. I did this because I didn't have many pictures of my own. After that I detailed every body's car I knew and took pictures. Hell I can do a headlight restoration like a mofo but it wasn't till today that I finally took some pictures of me doing a headlight restoration job. See what I'm saying. Do family members and friends cars for the sake of pictures. Don't use others. Besides what if your work doesn't live up to the expectations of the work done in the pictures?

7. Take your time. Rome wasn't built in a day and neither was any detailing business or side job

Ask many questions on here before you pull the trigger. We are all here to help others out :)

Are we all saying that you clay and dont polish? I was under the belief that you dont clay unless you plan on at least an AIO polish step after? Because of micro marring.

I've successfully clayed without leaving any marring. Very mild clay.

Well OP printed them out already. So for next time ask first. but that doesn't really matter

Don't worry about what people are saying. You're completely fine

Regardless if you have a B&W MS Paint flyer or a $500 design brochure, leaving them in random places thinking calls will come in is fairytale land

Go to business parks, shopping strips and talk to owners/people and hand them theses flyers. Make a personal connection

Focus on volume. Once you actually have work coming in, get a friend to help you out. With 2 people you can easily do the 'silver' package in 1 hour if you get a system down

This is only a side gig. Don't worry on doing 'high-end' work with 'ph-neutral' soup, etc... Majority doesn't care

Flyers are the first thing to get thrown out, flyers are a waste of time. Plus putting flyers is illegal in some states, so check your laws, or you'll just pay fines. But yeah, take those 500 pages and chuck them, people hate flyers.....ask yourself when you get a flyer from someone, is it within 48 hrs you throw it out, if "yes" then dont do it.

This may or may not start a battle/debate.
OP, what exactly are you trying to accomplish with this side business? If making money is anywhere in the equation, you’re not there. Don’t sell yourself short!!!
Before you jump into this with your pricing model, consider these things.
· Product costs: For example, you state that you’re going to change $15-20 to Claybar a car. That’s about what it will cost you in product… I factor the cost a new claybar per job, and buy the “Lube” by the gallon to save. Now… What about your labor?
· Laundry Costs: You’ll need to clean those towels, pads and applicators. The good soaps aren’t cheap either.
· As others have mentioned, insurance. This can cost you upwards of $1400 a year, which is still cheaper than a respray if you botch the job.
· Facility expenses: Water, Electricity and Heat all cost money.

These above don’t even factor in the cost of Pads, Waxes, Glazes, Polishes, Compounds, Interior Cleaners, Carpet Cleaners, Detail Brushes, Wheel Whoolies, replacement buffers …the list goes on and on.
IMHO, word of mouth will get you MORE business than any flyer will. As mentioned above, start with some friends, neighbors, family and maybe even co-workers. Those handful of users can start your word of mouth, let your work sell itself. :xyxthumbs:
