Which area do you tend to overlook?

Other areas I might skip sometimes or aren’t too fond of doing is the trunk jamb & weatherstripping. The trunk jamb because I don’t usually like getting my towels that dirty…
I have separate towels I use for jambs and the engine bay painted areas.

Oh come on, I use WalMart 2/$2 waffle weave dish towels, 16x24, that was the best microfiber deal ever, until they stopped selling them in....2006?

That’s a 12pk!

This was the newer version when they made them crappier and more expensive, I never used these, the other ones were actual waffle weaves just like we would buy for detailing, I mean they have cheap edging but the weight is ok, I bought tons of them and have some as I said for jambs, and in the kitchen and bathroom...for 20 years or something. Like I said, best microfiber deal ever.

How is $2 for 2 a better deal than a 12pk for $5?🥸lol.

I tend to leave the wheel wells, on FJ there easy to get at, but probably the dirtiest area. I might hose them, but I rarely get in there with a brush. I also don't touch the grill much, it's unpainted black plastic, it's recessed back a bit, and it's hidden behind the light bar. So while it does get hosed down, I don't touch it with the wash mitt or a brush. I think I've dressed it maybe 3 or 4 times in 8 years.

Are they black carpet or black plastic?

The wheel wells are a combination of metal, plastic, and rubberised coating. That coating is another reason I don't go nuts in the wheel wells, the black outer coating is wearing through, showing the silver layer underneath, it isn't through to the metal, it's just another layer. But it's really obvious if it's cleaned and dressed. I have been thinking about spraying it with black plastidip.

There’s alot of potential there.. But I see what you mean about that coating revealing another unsightly layer underneath and understand why it might be a buzzkill. If it was plain black plastic material they’d look great cleaned & dressed.

I suppose I ignore the glass. My wife took our Fit out the other night and said she could barely see through the windscreen. She was right! It was terrible! It took me about a half hour to get it crystal clear.

That’s sounds like a pretty extreme corner you cut. Lol
