Which brand is forbidden to be spoken around you?

Just curious but what is a turn off about Chemical Guys marketing that you don't like?

I posted this on a different thread, but I think it applies to CG's marketing philosophy.. " They just throw out a bunch of adjectives (" the super fab, super duper plush, extremo badass towel [or insert product] to end all towels [ insert product] b/c it does EVERYTHING".). There is a lot of hype and less usable info. CG would be a lot better and have a rep among serious enthusiast/pros if they would address this. People use their products, incorrectly or expect too much (b/c they buy into the hype) and when the product doesn't perform they stay away. I would bet that if they looked seriously at their order trends they'd see a serious narrowing down of products ordered i.e. the newb gets caught up in the hyper, buys a boat of product, then doesn't like the results and goes to another product line...maybe continuing to buy soaps/cleaners (two generally accepted areas where they perform).

This is basically what I was trying to say just couldn't form it properly lol. The redundancy of products becomes extremely confusing to.

Hate when I'm out of state and see "The Philly Cheesesteak" on a menu.

Most these states can't make a pizza for crap - now they're going to try for a cheesesteak?

Oy vey.

haha, yeah it's funny when "Philly cheesesteak" is represented as having green peppers and onions...and in my entire life of living in southern NJ and visiting Philadelphia, i've never had a cheesesteak here or there that was setup like that. in fact, i haven't had a cheesesteak with cheez whiz since i was college age and went to the tourist trap Geno's or Pat's.

Fanboys of any type/shape/forn annoy me. Be objective and learn to evaluate things. Loyalty to a brand is ridiculous.

This. Walking around with blinders on, living in a bubble, etc.

Especially with car fanboys. Nothing wrong with taking pride in your vehicle, but just because you own vehicle X, doesn't make it the fastest/best looking/etc in the world. That gets even more annoying from people who want to talk up cars they've never even driven, let alone own.

Very nice explanation and I can see your points in general about marketing ploys. Unfortunately, I don't see much to any difference in how CG operate their marketing compared to thousands of other global companies. From automotive manufactures, to cell phone carriers be it Verizon, AT&T, Sprint, many market their products in a similar manner. Its sales!

There's a huge difference. Let's take automotive.. a car company may say the car has "breathtaking acceleration" or "nimble, responsive handling" but you can always check the vehicle stats i.e. 0-60 time and weight distribution. They have to publish that data. If all else fails, you take it for a test drive. Hype is part of marketing, over promising or, frankly misleading info, is not. And it's no way to get repeat customers. There's an old saying.. you can sheer a sheep many times, but skin it only once.
Case in point: multiple videos show Gregg using a "workhorse" towel to buff the paint. Are you kidding me? That thing is BARELY above Costco grade. Second, look at their description/classification for Blacklight. Is it a glaze? is it a cleaner wax? Doesn't matter...b/c it can do it all. Just apply and your car will look "wet and fresh" (sorry, had to chuckle at that).

That's what MSDS are for. Therefore I'm missing your point with this rebuttal. Is there not one available for GC?

They don't specifically label it as any of those. They claim it will give a "radiant finish". And it does. It's a glaze with very light cutting abilities. Followed with V7 as a "sealant" (albeit a poor one) per their recommended instructions, it does what they describe. Todd Cooperider called it an AIO and a gloss enhancing sealant, same thing, different words. While I agree their description is a bit eccentric, it gives you those results. The only thing that's wrong, is when the describe the durability, they seem to imply it is durable. But that rests on V7 being a "sealant", not BL as one.

I'm not defending all their products, but BL is one that works.

I agree. Cell phone carriers always boast about having the best coverage, showing maps of how much better they are versus their competition. Those maps are very inaccurate on both ends.

Both are very aggressive. I normally hate anyone who says "best in the world" IMO best is an extremely subjective term. Also a lot of CGs videos and website info is a lot of made up nonsense. I understand that a lot of advertisement and marketing is that way but something about The way CG presents themselves puts a bad taste in my mouth. Keep in mind this is all my opinion. I do have some CG products that I like I know they make great products but certain things bother me.

Ya. When they started advertizing their coating as something unique that no one else had (this after years of coatings being on the market) I gave up on them ;) I hate false advertizing, to me doing that and frauding people is pretty much the same thing.

I do hate those misleading sales marketing tactics too. Like how the various department stores send out adds saying they are having the biggest sale ever. The sale to end all sales.

Im the same way with Armor all and Turtle product. Oh lets not forget black magic lol.

Turtle Wax tire coating is an exception here, trust me :dblthumb2:

I agree about AA for sure though but it does serve a purpose, wheel well dressing.

Actually autozone doesn't sell Griots. Advanced Auto. Megs M101 is not found at either Auto zone or Advanced. M105 can be found. I've never heard of M201 I can only assume you mean M205.

Check you facts before you try to bust someone's balls.

Advance Auto. Not Advanced Auto :xyxthumbs:

Do you mean Pledge as a car wax? Or just Pledge for furniture use?

i used to work with a guy who would pluralize everything. Meyer Distributing = Meyers Distributing, CJ Pony = CJ Ponies, Robert Thibert = Robert Thiberts...it was so annoying lol

I know what you meant Builthaches! ;)

3D Car Care, spent a good $100 on a kit polish my car and threw that crap out after only using it on the trunk, picked up some real products and will never ever....EVER try another 3D product

Hmmm... my dealer applies Ceramic Pro 9H.

I know what you mean though.

The brand of protection doesn't matter. At any dealer the surface most likely is not prepared to the highest standards and/or the coating is not installed correctly.
