hi all,

I'm not a pro and no plans for it for a while, just servicing family cars.
I need to coat 3 family cars.
Yes, I'll polish and prepare for coating.
Which coating product to buy?
There are multiple proven OC and CQ, and newer 22, DP and etc

I'd like to get the most protection as it commute cars, shine is nice, but not a priority.
I'm looking for a coating to reduce my time later washing 3 cars.

What would you recommend?
Also I'd like to time it for coming BF sale if possible.

thanks.
Mike.

Are all the cars clear coat?
Does one of them have single stage paint?
From what I've heard/read the OP & CQ are pretty much the same except OP claims to last longer than CQ but that CQ leaves a better shine.

DP Coating is the easiest to apply but only last two years and is recommend for single stage paint.

Get ready for all sort of recommendations. Lol
There's a lot of threads on this that you can read and may help you to decide. :dblthumb2:

Good luck

To me, looks like the brand new Pinnacle Black Label Paint Coating is the way to go.

The DP Paint Coating I previously used is actually no harder to deal with than a Detailer Spray. Only learning curve with it, is that it flashes virtually instantly on the paint, and is a bit hard to see, or know where its been applied, and where it has not.

But, from that coating, I learned that it was simple to go back, and when doing the final "rewarding" wipe down with an MF Towel, you could feel the difference between "a wet ice slickness", to a slight drag feeling. These small slightly draggy areas would then be most likely be areas where you missed applying the product.

Otherwise, the product finishes out perfectly, like applying a coat of liquid glass on your paint.

The Pinnacle Black Label Paint Coating is said to be even easier to apply, due to a longer working time, so you can spread it around adequately, and not have a tendency to miss any areas.

The 4oz bottle of Pinnacle Coating should easily cover the 3 vehicles 3 times, and maybe enough left to do a few odd and end coating projects.

I'd like to coat my Barrett Deems Drumset with this stuff! I betcha, with that coating done after a polish, my drums would probably blind you!

I found DP very easy to use, and cannot wait to try Pinnacle next ....

I use Cquartz for the first time and it was quite easy to apply and at a good price

Best price would certainly send the nod to BL850 coating. Although nobody has any idea if there are any real differences (in reliability or shine for that matter) between the dedicated paint coating and the all in one surface coating. (Still waiting on someone from Autogeek to chime in with the science on that one.) ;)

cQuartz is time proven, and easy to apply. Opti-coat is also time proven and really not hard to apply (and may indeed be the most durable). Again, who knows at this stage (when compared to BL850). And of course there is the DP coating that's also really new.

Either way doubt you'll go bad with any of these. :)

Why do you say the DP coating is recommended for single stage paint? It works very well on clear coat and is certainly not a product that is designed to only work on single stage paint.

Hi Mike...

Opti-Coat has all of the attributes you listed above.

Also I'd like to time it for coming BF sale if possible.
What in the BF line-up are you waiting on, to be on sale?

:)

Bob

thank you all for replies

Looks like OC 2.0 would be the most logical product for me.
All my cars are plain from 2000 to 2013 with clear coat - just commute cars.

I expect to see some 15% - 25% off with free shipping after $99. to get 2 OC 2.0
