Which coating to use?

Well, it's 23 degrees this morning in Michigan so it's time to start formulating a plan of attack on the Wife's car. It's a black 09 Vibe GT that sees many swirl-o-matic washes through the winter. I need to do a complete cleanup this spring and am thinking that a coating would be best for this vehicle that sees little attention. So what do I use, C.QUARTZ or GTechniq? Any advantages or disadvantages to either product? Cost isn't really a factor, I need something that is long lasting for the paint and wheels. Any advice or direction is greatly appreciated!

THANKS!!

Of course there are many choices of Coatings to choose from,
including the ones you have highlighted...

But whenever I do get around to do the: Coating-thing...
It will definitely be whichever one of Optimum's that I can get my hands on.

They seem to be the ones that will offer the type of protection...
for what I, as well as you, are seeking:
"that is long lasting for the paint and wheels".

Yet, even with my vehicles "coated" with Optimum's Coatings...
I would not take them through swirlo'matics...
DIY-ers, Brushless? Yes...when in a pinch.

Since cost is not a factor, Gtechnic C1 topped with Exo for the paint and Opticoat on the wheels.

Thanks BOB,

Apparently you don't have experience on any coatings, but I appreciate your efforts. Any reasoning behind using Optimum products for the "Coating-thing"?

As far as the Wife using the swirl-o-matic, the reality is I don't have an extra 6+ hours a week to spend keeping her car clean. Her visits to her sisters and friends who live on dirt roads is never ending and usually timed just after a rain. I'll keep my DD and my garage queen as clean as I can and that is that. At 67 I just don't have what it takes to be her auto valet. It's much easier to just purchase a handfull of wash tickets and let her be so proud she cleaned her car.

So, as to my original question, anyone, with any experience on C.QUARTZ or GTechniq care to chime in?

Feed back please

OptiCoat is the only coating that is supposed to be permanent, is not affected by the harsh detergents used at car washes and is supposed to be if I remember correctly a 9H on the hardness scale. Only way to remove it is by polishing it off. In addition it is supposed to shed dirt like crazy. There is ample evidence on all of the detailing forums to support these attributes.

Put it on a relative's 2006 Altima a year ago after polishing as any swirls or RIDS will be sealed by the coating. Car is always washed at commercial car washes so I convinced them to switch car washes to a drive through touchless system (no brushes) and the car still looks great a year later. They report that there is much less need to have it washed as often. I think this is what FUNX725 was getting at--just use a touchless wash rather than one with brushes.

From the standpoint of "ease of maintenance" I think OC is the way to go.

Yes!!...Several reasons.

-I, too, am up in years...

-It's getting tougher to be anybody's valet, including for myself.

-Therefore...I will be going with the Permanent Coatings...Those of Optimum's.

-If I live long enough...Why keep doing the: 'Other Coatings' over and over again?

-Women are known to outlive Men.

-With the vehicles having an Optimum Coating on them...
Would leave more time for my surviving spouse's Cabana Boy to perform other tasks.

What about GTehcniq EXO? I see mention here of applying EXO over C1?
Isn't EXO the most permanent coating of the line?

Please educate me if I'm wrong? If so, then AG, and others need to better explain some of these hi tech offerings. Mark

I have c quartz finest on mine and several clients cars, been on since last April. Still beading with no spotting, and still feels slick. Wife's car has g tech since last march, no beading, never felt slick, but still looks good.i have not used the other c quartz products, but I would go with it first.

Thanks for the reply's :xyxthumbs: everyone!!!!

nothing wrong with cquartz or optimum, but the OC is more permanent...

if you want something super easy with a diminished durability compared to the coatings look to Carpro's new hydrO2...just spray on when wet and blast with a high power rinse to activate...cant get any easier.
