Which Dawn soap to use to strip wax?

Which one do you use?

You always hear people say "use Dawn"... but which one? There's different kinds.

Which one works best?
 
Power clean. Or you can get CG citrus wash(the orange/red one).
 
I buy whichever one is within arms reach when I'm going down
the aisle. Only difference I've seen are the different scents.
 
I know! I was just saying you can get a gallon of CG citrus wash for around $28 after discount. That comes to about 7 dawn bottles at $4. I guess it is about the same.
 
Whichever smells the nicest to you. I believe the majority of them are just the same with different scents.

The few times I've tried Dawn (Ultra Concentrate) it hasn't been the best at stripping wax. CG Citrus wash however never fails.
 
Only thing I dislike about using Dawn to strip is that sometimes it tends to be difficult to rinse off. Citrus Wash and Gloss will work fine.

Same here! And sometimes there is a film left behind from not rinsing well.

why would that be a better choice than OPC or ZEP citrus? is there something special about it?
 
I left dawn also and went to CGCW Red. Tried it last night for the first time and loved it. 2oz in the cannon and let it dwell for 5 min, rinse, foam again and wash. Rinse and foam again for clay lube.

The owner of the car heavily uses the Lucas spray something or other and the first pass with CGCW Red took it off.

Was amazed how slick the foam is for claying.
 
Plain (non-ultra) dawn is about a buck a bottle at wally world. At least it was when I bought a bunch to use in my ultrasonic cleaner.
 
I just used that Dawn power clean yesterday to take off some wax I put on about a month ago. It did a good job, but it was kinda hard to rinse. Also, I had a mess of side all over the floor that was kinda fun to get rid of...

Other than the new hard coatings, all sealants and waxes begin to degrade the moment they're applied. Given the fact that these protective films are so thin, they're probably unmeasurable, they don't last as long as you might think.

  • Why are you trying to strip them?
  • How long have they been on the car?
Any paint cleaner or polish will remove them.

After washing, clay the entire surface and this will remove 90% 0f what's left and let the paint cleaner do the rest.....
 
never a problem with Blue dawn - heavily concentrated in 6 gal bucket - like 3 oz....rinse with open hose nozzle so it sheets...
