I've got a really badly oxidized roof to do on my new to me SUV and have both products to use with a yellow pad. They're the strongest I have so I'm wondering which one is more effective?

They both are greats products and I have used both. 105 has a little more cut than FG400 but FG400 finishes down better and easier to use. If you want you can mix the two together and that will give you more working time.

Maybe the old Power Gloss, but not the new FP400.:xyxthumbs:

Very true but the OP didnt mention having FG400. If he has FG400 then I wouldnt bother with the other two.

I took my M105 to work to use up on my 849x to buff out fresh paint. For at home detailing the ease of use and great ability of FG400 wins every time.

:iagree:Have you tried M101?

traded for some fg500 and used it on a 17 yr old lincoln with the rupes. wow nobody would tell me the difference between 400 and 500. still dont care for 105. why bother with the hassels when others dont require the effort.

I got to try megs 100 yesterday on a car with super hard paint and that thing cut really well on a mf pad with a little dusting. 100 is definitely better than 105 imho.

Too much FG400 will yield you dust.
+1 It never dust for me use all most everyday. When polishing more is not better to many people think adding more and more polish is good its not. You only need little to get the job done.

Haven't tried M101. I'm on a bit of a Menzerna kick right now.

Hmmm, seems like I'm drinking the same kool aide as u Smack. Getting ready to try PF2500 and Powerlock for the first time. Everything I've tried seems to be a top performer and easier to use then one of the comparable products from a different line. But as always...YMMV

I hardly get any dusting out of it either.

Everyone, when you really overload the pad with product it will dust for sure but use it the way you should and you shouldn't get much dusting out of it.

Lol. Lately I have really enjoyed drinking the German product Kool Aide and I dont see switching out to anything else. This goes for the machines as well. Im on the 3401 and love the forced rotation of it. Im going to stick with my Flex.

i primed my tangerine hydrotech pad and just used 3 drops each panel, and dusted like crazy. hard to remove too

I'd do 105, but that's just me. Actually 101 these days... I found new religion! :) Thing is (as I guess you know) 105 is a PITA to work with. Cuts like the dickens, but only for 20~30 seconds before gunking up. One thing to think about with the heavy oxidiation is that paint is so dry it'll exacerbate the working problems with 105. :( I'd suggest treating it with #7 a few times, even let it sit overnight to try and 'restore' it a bit so the 105 will work better. Then of course you'll want to have some mineral/baby oil on hand that'll also help with dry paint and 105.

Also, if you can pickup some UC, prime the pad with it then do the 3 drops of 105. Works magic! :xyxthumbs: Come to think of it, you could pre-work the area with the UC and skip the #7 it has helped to start that way on some I've done. ;)

Thank goodness I've managed to resist (so far). ;)
But... I REALLY want to scarf up a few bottles. (Like I need to learn a new product or something.)

Too much FG400 will yield you dust.

Too much of any polish will yield you "dust". If you guys want to compare polish to polish, comparing FG400 vs M105 is an outdated challenge.

M101 vs FG400 is a better suited approach. M101 dusts way less than 105, cuts faster and finishes better thah M105.

:iagree:It's SMAT vrs. DAT.

I wouldn't think twice about using SMAT over DAT when a compound is needed.

Meg's compounds > Memzerna compounds

Well let me tell you guys I finally found a good use for that Ebay clay I bought two years ago. I don't know what half the $hit on that roof was but between the corner of plastic razor blade and the heavy yellow clay I got "most" of the crud off.
I'm not too concerned with how it finishes because no one will ever see it, I just want to create a surface that sealants will stick to so I can prevent further paint damage/failure. There was a big white powdery spot in the middle, black streaks along the ridges, dried bird poop - even though I washed it with a brush and Dawn, and a blob of what looked like clear melted plastic.

Now I'm going to attempt to polish it with.... what was it again..? Oh yeah, Meginz Power 105! LOL :buffing:

Oh the power gloss I just bought is - PG1000.
