Which Leather Treatment?

im telling you go with pinnacle leather lotion. its the very best!!!!! i wish it was bogo.

Haven't had a car come in yet where I could do a good comparison. I ordered the Auto Ultra 150 kit and the Leather essence. The Ultra foam is nice becasue it comes with a foamer type dispenser which the LM did not. It did do a good job at remove the dye transfer from my tan leather seats though. I'll definitely do a good review once I have the chance though. At this point I can only say it worked as well as LM on my personal cars leather....which is in great shape.

The Leather Essence smells awesome, but doesn't seem to last very long.
 
Look forward to reading your thoughts on it. Also LM's STRONG is in a foam can but it's listed under there Suede and Alcantara cleaner. Wish I would have known/read that I wouldn't have bought both :(.

The water drop test tends to make sense. If you put a drop of water on a solid leather seat that isn't perferated or not on the seams and it doesn't soak in, it would stand to reason that a leather conditioner isn't going to soak in either.

If that's the case, then it would seem reasonable to think a vinyl/plastic treatment would do more good than a leather treatment if your seats are plastic coated.

The problem is leather conditioner is a term widely known so people who make products for leather care like to use what people understand so if someone says they sell a leather conditioner it often can still be applied to top coated leather.

The leather care product is intended to do two things: 1) UV protection 2) barrier against liquids and dirt. I am not sure 303 does the latter.

You use various ingredients in many products (like lanolin, natural waxes (like in 1z)). that provide a barrier but they can make the seats slippery. Lexol will say lanolin has no place on leather seats since it does not condition (supposedly true) but it is a barrier since lanolin is chemically similar to a wax.

What it seems you really do not need is animal fats like mink oil, etc. I had checked with 4 Star and they claim the only animal oils is for scent but it supposedly includes lanolin. Most will say these barrier products do not get absorbed into the vinyl and some have claimed they can break down the top coating.

And there are some that tell you that it is so simple to care for but then try to sell a product that is very expensive.

Love the marketing FUD.

I have tried 4 Star and now using Poorboy's Leather stuff. It seems to work fine if you buff it over well after application.

Now, what I want to know is if what the experts says is true, why do people with top coated leather claim their seats are softer and pliable if it is indeed coated. I am sure putting a wax like on them will make them feel softer but is it really more pliable?
