Which ones MUST you avoid application in the sun

I don't recommend working in the sun at all, especially while trying to carry out the tasks you've mentioned!

I've been in the mobile detailing business along time ,in south Florida the menzerna is a little finicky in the heat ,has the attendancy to dry on you,it can be done if take u take little steps ,on panel at a time ,plenty of pads they will gum up quick,as far as collinite with the truck being white not a problem, start in the morning this task can be easily done in one day,no water it will make you nausea, little Gatorade will do little sips,at,a time you're age will be a factor,if this maybe a problem for you ,and takes all week, hire a reputable detailer to knock it out ,and you just maintain it ,or have it polished and u wax it

OK, OK I'll get a polisher. Have looked at those on this site and keep coming back to the Porter Cable 7424XP, but have to admit I am confused about pads. Too many options. What pads can I get by with and how many of each type?

Also, do I need a pad cleaner and brush. Suggest something that will be the least expensive.

Thanks again.

Charlie

I bought the XP7424 kit. This makes it super simple:

Porter Cable 7424xp Value Kit $149

It comes with an orange pad, a white pad, and a blue pad, plus two free red pads. Use the orange pad with Compound, the white with polish, and the red pads with wax/sealant. The blue pad is good for an All in One product when you get it.

You can clean the pads with just soap and water. You don't really need a brush or special cleaners. Use the 'on the fly' method while you are working to keep it fairly clean (this is simply pushing the pad onto a towel while the DA runs, to get the dirt/paint off).

The kit also comes with Mike's book, so its great to sit down and read thru it before you do any of this, get is all figured out. Highly recommended kit.

Many will suggest more pads. Sure, its best to have clean pads at the ready, and if you are really into it, great bins of pads at your disposal. I don't. I have two of each pad, and if they get dirty, I simply stop, wash my pads, and do another panel on a different day.

If you want more pads, get the Lake Country Flat pads, in the colors that match the one in the kit: Orange, white, red (sub in the black).

Don't wash with dawn in the sun it will bake on you're glass, never take away what you have left on the truck, everybody runs using dawn ,use a quality wash and wax keep this job simple, use dawn or eraser if you're gonna do a quality paint correction job.Its a white truck do a good wash and clay .

I agree, I don't work at all on a hot car and never in the sun. I understand there a few good quick detailers and spray waxes that are fine in the sun, but the brands that I use just don't seem to behave well. And, of course, living in AZ I get my share of brutal sun.

I don't know if I could handle the heat there,I've been in south fla for 15 years getting tired here,it's really a struggle to work mobile,I was doing a small plane in a hangar and throwing up cause I was hot and bloated from the water, switch to Gatorade but don't gulp it cause ur putting air in ur stomach ,I'm thinking of moving to ny ,but the winters are bad so it's a toss up

The only thing I've seen that works on a hot black car in the sun is breakfast!
