Which Steamer to buy

I'll get the VX5000 or something similar one day when I have some extra money to spend. Right now its gotta be in the range of the McColluch or Wagner. I'm leaning more towards the McColluch now.

What is this thing called "extra money"? I'm unfamiliar with the concept. In my world you can't have too much loot and none of it is "extra". YMMV.

Steam Cleaner Kit picking this up after reading this thread with a 20% discount. will this do?

Can i use this then use a 3hp vacume to clean the residue? how are you guys doing it?

I bought a wagner 905 a year ago...prob used it close to 100 times not a bit of trouble and it and it has done a very good job...now im sure its not a vx5000 however there hasn't been a job I used it on that it couldn't complete. I've also diluted some apc in the steamer at 50 to 1 and had good results. only maintenance needed it a rinse with vingear every now and then. good luck with the decision.
 
I hate to resurrect this thread with a silly question, but could some people chime in with where their steamers are made?

I'm looking for something in the price range of the McColluch 1275.

No idea where they're made, McCollughs are manufactured by SteamFast.

I believe most high quality steam cleaners are made in Europe. Could be wrong here. I know my VX5000 is manufactured in Italy.

No idea where the McCulloch is made. but I have used it and for the $100 price range its a pretty good unit in my limited experience.
 
Thanks Gurge. I was looking at the VX5000 today actually. Pretty superb looking unit.

My wife and I are avoid Chinese products (no offense to the Chinese) and so I now have to ask where everything is made before I make an online purchase.

Today I found out that all of the Steamfast products are made in China so the McCulloch is off limits as well as any other Steamfast models.

It's not really a big deal, but I was just curious.
 
My Shark SC-505 is made in Turkey. It was manufactured November 2004. Production probably shifted to China and then the models change. I'm wondering if different stores get sent batches of the same model but with different quality control? My wife picked ours up at Macy's and the thing is awesome. 1550 Watts heats up the 27oz tank fast and it puts out what I would call dry steam. Yet looking at reviews on Amazon for SC-505, it gets mostly poor reviews. I guess we got a good model and most folks got duds? Anyways, we've had the thing for 7 years or so

Thanks for that info Rix6. Not to get too far off track, but my wife and I have noticed since we started looking at labels that you can often find two identical items with different "made in" labels on them.

At any rate, I appreciate your feedback. I'll have to look into the Shark.
