Which steamer?

After spending the past few weeks debating between a steamer and extractor and whar to purchase first, I decided I can get more done with a steamer. Doing a few quick online searches, I have came across alot of options.

Which do you all recommend? I'm looking for a steamer that is reliable and will get the job done the first time. At the moment I'm only detailing on the weekends I'm not looking for somthing that will run me over $1k and I'm not looking for somthing that's cheap that will break down or take more time to clean the interior.

Thanks in advance.

Best steamer in my opinion for its ability, construction, and price is the VX5000.

Seems like vx5000 is the best option for my price range. Doesn't look like AG has it available, any suggestions for best price online?

The Mytee Tempo is a solid portable unit. A lot of value for the money. I love mine.

vx5000 is what has served me well for about 4 yrs and I picked it up second had from someone . The Dupray units are high quality as well

I have a McCulloch 1375 and a Cleanfreak.com extractor. Both were had for under $600, are commercial, and are cleaning beasts. Just saying, there are options besides a VX.

I clean some super nasty cars. I actually have several write ups in waiting for interiors on cars that would make you cringe.

I had a vapamore primo before I bought a dupray and it was very serviceable. Did a very good job with no problems ever. I used it for about 2 years for detailing and cleaning around the house. Lucky I got it off craigslist for 200 bucks so I think I scored on that but the 300 or so retail is worth it. Good luck.

Almost every time I take the cheaper route it ends costing me more down the line. Hopefully this isn't that time, I ordered the Mcculloch 1385 last night and it should be delivered by tomorrow.

I also found a mytee h60 Spyder extractor "like new" only used 2x (owner is family) and he's asking $800. Not sure if I'll need a extractor at this point but if comes down on the price, I'll probably end up buying it.

I use a Dupray Tosca for steam and Mytee Tempo for extracting.

Any updates on that Mcculloch steamer? I'm looking at that or the vx5000 but that's a huge price difference and if not necessary I could use the extra $ I saved elsewhere.

I'm faced with the same choice as to either get the Mcculloch which is about $130 and I can get 2 of those or buy the VX5000 and spend $800. I feel like I could use that $540 difference for other tools or advertising or some place else period. I can't locate the psi rating for Mcculloch so I'm not to sure how strong it is. Thoughts?

Any reason why you won't look at the Tempo? It's in-between the two you are discussing and very dependable and affordable.

Couldn't be happier with the Mcculloch steamer. I can't compare it with the vx5000 since I've never used one however the Mcculloch has performed great on all 4 cars I've used it in.

How much did it set you back?

I think I might give one a try. I figure it could be beneficial. I've done everything by hand thus far so a steamer could only be an improvement.

I'm not a high volume detailer so this might be a better route as I will do like 1 car a day

They run about $140 vs $800 for the vx5000

I was set on getting the vx5000 but figured investing $800 was a bit too much. At this point I'm only getting work by word of mouth. If detailing turns into my primary work and I'm doing multiple cars a day, I wouldn't hesitate to invest that money into a vx5000 and a nice extractor but until then this $200 steamer is more then enough for me.
