Hi all,

After drooling at all the show n shine posts I am now wondering which wheel cleaner to add to my collection.

I know many of you have your own preferred brand but is there one that is the more popular choice and stands out from the others?

It looks like most of the wheel cleaner products I've seen here turn to a purple colour to show how effective it really is but this is where I get confused on which actual product has been used!

Adding some high quality wheel brushes like a set of wheel woolies will no doubt help with agitation and make the alloys look like new.

So, which one is your wheel cleaner weapon of choice and why?

I now use Meguiar's D160 Wheel Brightner, 2-1 with no issues
Less scrubbing, I let it dwell a few then rinse, I get most of the dirt and break dust off in half the time compared to other wheel cleaners.
It's an acid so it's important to dilute it, not for aluminum though.
Great cleaner, use a mask, goggles and gloves not to burn you skin.
I keep my wheels sealed so I don't use it on every wash.

I tried several and now it Poorboys World Spray and Rinse. It doesn't turn purple but it does work and very well I might add.

I use meguiars d143, it works good and 4 rims and tires could be done with a 32 oz spray bottle at 4:1

Just got some Sonox full effect in the mail. Will test it out this weekend.

The most popular color changing (iron dissolving) wheel cleaners you see are:

SONAX Full Effect

&

1Z Colourtec

I've used both and they are both pretty good. Most of the time you still need to agitate, but this is going to be true with non-acid wheel cleaners. One downside is their price - they are among the most expensive (save for P21S Gel). The price can be lessened by buying in bulk, which is what I do.

Other color changing wheel cleaners include Griot's Heavy Duty, Wolfgang Uber, Scholl's Rim 7 (heard good things about this.) and Rupes Fast wheel cleaner. Other opinions include using iron removing sprays and gels on the wheels, such as CarPro iron-x, Auto Finesse's offering, etc.

Meguiars has also released a otc version of the color changing cleaner co developed by DUB

I have some DP wheel cleaner on the way here. Hopefully its good

I really like Sonax's Full Effect but it is quite pricy. I use that with a Daytona brush and haven't had any issues and the wheels always come out looking great

Something like WG Uber wheel cleaner or Sonax for neglected wheels.
On wheels that are a little more taken care of, I like CG Diablo.

I've just noticed there a two different 1Z variants - ColorTec and Felgenreiniger.

Is there a difference between the two?

-1Z ColourTec Felgenreiniger...Color-changing wheel cleaner
-1Z Felgenreiniger...Wheel cleaner without the color-changing aspect

I've been doing some reasearch because I too am shopping around for a wheel cleaner. My main requirement would be for it to be a great all around.

Meguiars D140 looks like a great choice until you have to deal with aluminum wheels. I did some searching and I ran across a product called Brown Royal. It's low cost and effectiveness on all wheels seems like a great choice.

Does anybody have any thoughts on Brown Royal?

Well we are not allowed to post link, but my researched led to a website called FlashWax..., I barely started doing some research about 15 mins ago. So take the info very lightly... I found it by Googling Brown Royal and it took me to a site called S2KI
