Hello! Just bought a used Ford Mondeo 2011 that has some strange white stains on it. It looks almost like spilled milk. You cant se it when it is cloudy weather, but when the sun is shining it is very visuable.

I personaly think that it is degreaser that been to long or on a Warm surface. Tried to polish it away with my micky mouse machine, but no result.

Please help me

The paint is by the way black metallic medium hard.
The polish machine is a copy of a Cyclo.

Has your car been kept under one of those car cover things at all?

If the answer is yes, then somehow (maybe the car cover is poorly designed and does not allow sufficient breathing...or....allowed moisture in) you have got water trapped IN your clear coat... And it hasn't been able to get out again..... I think the term coined is water entrapment....

Try the following:

1. Wipe affected area with rubbing alcohol (70, 90% what ever) and make sure the area is "wet" with the alcohol.
2. Alcohol (IPA only in this case) is a "drying agent" which is why it is used.
3. While wet, using a heat gun or even a hair dryer, start evenly heating the affected area, but do not allow the skin temperature of the painted surface to exceed 175 F.
4. Move the heat and air source, evenly over the affected area, starting at one edge, working your way across the area.
5. Observe if the "cloud" is going away.
6. A second application and heating may be required.

If this does not remove the entrapped moisture from the clear then try leaving the car out in the hot sun for a few days....

The bad news is, if this doesn't work, repainting is probably the only solution.

Hope this helps.

It is possible that the spots may actually be tiny divots (rock picks) and some left over product (wax, polish ETC.) is stuck in there.

I may be wrong but I don't think the OP is referring to the 'pitting' but rather the cloudy/milky type stains

it almost looks like old compound residue. Ive seen similar problems with repainted vehix. have you tried compounding it yet? When I see this type of cloudiness, Ive compounded and polished and rewaxed. can you feel it on surface?

Hello and thanks! I was regering to to milky kind of stains that looks like kind of spilled (and dry) milk.

The car has been in a garage when it was not used. One kan also see this miky stains appear as small spots (like waterdrops on a dusty paint)

I asumed someone had used industrial degreaser and damaged the paint.

The first thought in my head was that the former owner or the car sales companymhad missed some parts when the polished/Waxed the hood.

@jjj I cant feel any difference. I used rubbing, Then polished it, and used some sealer last. ...but my Cyclo copy is a really cheap one, and so not have so much power.

Gonna 'bump' this...hopefully more ideas will come forth.

What has he tried since? Clay,Polishes, Compounds?

I don't think the Mickey Mouse machine he is using matters (That Much)

I'll tune in and see what you guys have to say.

Done it all. Clay, compound and polish. No difference. Ordered a new DA machine (900 watt) today. More power-more warmth I hope

Like I said I'll tune in, (hopefully this can be removed)

Here are my thoughts:

since you already tried compound and nothing happened. It might be embedded into the CC.

I always explain CC to my customers like this "CC is like a sponge and sealants/waxes are a barrier of protection between the CC and the environment"

Had a customer that had this problem. She had no wax or sealants on her car. She is a USMC who traveled from CA to the East. It snowed where she was at. The car in her eyes probably looked so pretty with snow in her eyes. (Her car)

What truly happened was the snow and salts got sucked in by the CC. (Like a sponge sucks up salt water)

She went through her insurance but they said "No it's Normal wear and tear" which IMO I think they are just avoiding helping her out.

So she is going have to repaint out of her own USMC pocket.

You can always try wet sanding, but I don't recommend it.

Good Luck...

Ouch!!! I sure hope that isnt so in my case. I'll write what happening when my new polisher arrives and Will be tested.

I would like to add: her car looked nothing like this. I should have taken pictures. However it was a lost cause, only repaint would fix it.

Imagine burning your skin with hot boiling water. The blisters you see on your skin were the same on her car. The CC was raised like a blister, mostly on the hood, roof and trunk wear the surfaces were flat and level, where the snow sat.

I'll try and get pictures.

For you it looks more like a haze and still repairable. But can't truly say because I don't truly know.

Either way Good Luck,
