While restoring my 79 Westy I osed por 15s metal prep to clean up some rusty areas. Some of it ran down the sides of the van ad it is brush applied. While it can contact paint for a bit, i apparently let it sit way too long. It is a single stage paint. I have made 2 passes with m105 and a wool bonnet and its better but they are still visible.
Is there something more aggressive than m105 that i could try? Should i keep making passes over it, maybe 2 more? Could definitely use some suggestions. Its never going to look perfect and on a 79 van i am ok with that, i just want to get them as far from visible as possible. In these shots, right side is after 2 passes as described, left is as is.

Tried magic eraser and then 105. Shines nice but streaks are still there. Anything more aggressive than 105 i could try?

You go much more aggressive you'll have a different problem likely. Its almost like it altered the paint color. The only thing more aggressive is wet sanding as I understand the magic eraser to be roughly equal to 3000 grit. Maybe you could bake it out? Heck it's really how far you want to push it. 105 is aggressive and so is the eraser.

Sorry to say but I suspect that you have 'bleached' the colorant out of the paint and although you may be able to improve the condition you will not be able to eliminate it.

Yeah i agree. Oh well. Its a 79 vw, i will now refer to them as "patina" and move on. Time to hang it up and enjoy a few. Overall polish came out nice.View attachment 35506
