Who cares about Wheels?

Right now i have A2Z all wheel cleaning on the shelf but i can't say i have a favorite wheel cleaner. i find they all work pretty well so i often buy the largest bottle i can find because i go through it so quickly. Most of the cleaning action is done by my hands. i have a dedicated bucket and sponges i use for my wheels. I can easily clean all the surfaces 99 percent of people see but it is those spots i see while i am down there that i can't reach that drive me crazy.

i soak them with wheel and tire cleaner.
scrub the tire with a brush.
clean the wheel with an assortment of sponges, some meant for scrubbing.
blow them dry with my blower ( can't live without the air dryer )
apply tire shine.

have never tried any type of coating. should i be doing that?

In your case, I’d recommend Meguiars D143 Acid Free Wheel & Tire Cleaner. It’s a gallon concentrate and very economical, @2:1 the gallon yields 3 gallons of RTU wheel & tire cleaner that works exceptionally well. Use as much as you want, you won’t run out very quik like you do with those small bottles.

Buy this Mothers Wheel & Tire Brush Set.

Along with the 2 brush set I mentioned earlier to clean the inside barrels of your wheels and that’s all you need to maintain your wheels perfectly clean. I guarantee you.

I’m not a believer in wheel coatings. According to the people who use them, they still resort to scrubbing their wheels clean when it’s time to wash their vehicle.

Megs wheel Brightener may be sold in bulk but is very strong according to many and isn't really for maintenance washes

This is absolutely wrong. Wheel Brightener is part of Meguiars Detailers Line, which is directly intended for maintenance detailing.

I also use ONRWW on my wheels and tires. I feel it gives some form of “protection” and shine enhancement. I renew this protection every week when i clean the car. Also, i like the matte/satin look it gives on my tires.

Both of those items are very reasonably priced. i will order them and see how they work out for me. Thanks for taking the time to post those links.

@crovello. I hope you picked these brushes as well. They’re key to being able to maintain the barrels of your wheels clean. If you only get 1 get the large 1.

I will get both of those as well. Looks like they will be great for getting deep in there. How long will they last when used on a weekly basis?

About 9 months maybe more if you take care of them and don’t leave them sitting in a bucket of water after use. They also don’t like to be smushed in between uses. A quik quik rinse is all it takes, they have a built in hook on the handle so if you’ve got a wall in the garage that’s perfect.

Those brushes in my pic were in need of replacement. At around $10 bucks for the large brush it’s no sweat. The large 1 is the most valuable in your arsenal. I bend the small 1 and use it to reach around and clean the back of the spokes.

What are those brushes?
Ah never mind.... saw the links to them in one of your previous posts :xyxthumbs:

Those tampico bristle (PLANT FIBERS) brushes are the best for heavy scrubbing of wheel barrels. They look like they would scratch but they don't. I follow up with the Wheel Woolies and Daytona brushes to let the longer loose bristles get into places the tampico bristle brush could not.

The link eldorado provided doesn't mention anything about those brushes being a tampico bristle...and I didn't see any in the autogeek store that stipulated a tampico bristle...am I just missing them or are they not available through AG?

It’s a tampico bristled brush.
