Whenever I'm done with a job, I quickly spray my polisher with simple soapy water before putting it away. I cannot stand polish "sling" and colored gel coating over the machines. Just curious if anyone else does this, or wears layers of sling as war paint.

A damp towel with a light APC would be better than spraying water imo.

i wipe down (if need be) my tools/polishers when i'm done using them too...

Patina is highly sought after so I just leave them alone.

Maybe on classic cars but junk on power tools, not so much where I'm concerned. I clean all my power tools after each use, regardless of the tool. To each their own.

I like to keep my stuff clean.

It can be difficult when there's a lot of work, but it only takes a few minutes to give the polisher a wipe down.

Wipe my flex down with 303 after a polishing job. Not all my other tools but I do have a pricey cordless impact I detail after a nasty car repair.

In a word, YES!

I've even gotten myself 'in trouble' using the dish washer to clean wrenches, sockets and the like. I do have to say, "Man was she p***ed!"

Clean my polisher with dashboard and vinyl cleaner after every use

I usually don't clean my machines after every use but do wipe them down about once a month.

I do like to take them apart about once a year and do some PM. They get cleaned real good when I do that, inside and out.

Just a habit for me to clean off/wipe down every tool I use after a job.

I probably have over 60 grand invested in my equipment, power, and hand tools.

I treat each and every one like it's my baby. :)

Does ceramic coating your polishers count?

A wipe with a damp cloth makes them brand new.

The one thing that bothers me to no end is scuffed cords. Yet to find a good solution.

•I can vividly remember when a Polisher
was often referred to as a “wheel”; even
as a “buffer”.

-But this is the first time I’ve ever heard
of Polishers referred to as “detailers”.

IMO:
To even remotely insinuate/imply that the
hard-working souls in the vehicle refurbishing
industry (ie: Detailers) are a “tool”...is, to say
the least: inconsiderate; insensitive; unkind.

What’s next: “Glorified Shoe Shine Boy”?

Always wipe it down with either ONR or even Eraser if that was just used and is handy. I can’t put it away dirty, just can’t.

Everytime I see the ground's signature (scratch marks) on the handle of my Flex, I wince inside just a little bit for not protecting it, but I do occasionally wipe it down, and even unscrew the handle to clean the misc dust & debris from the motor and trigger area with a detail brush. I hope this helps extend the life of the tool.

an ounce of maintenance, is worth a pound of cure... :xyxthumbs:

Something happened to my bottle of 3D One, and it looks like some polish erupted our of the top - in the bag - all over the 7424, and the bottom of the bag. Top was in the closed position after I was done with it earlier.

So yeah, needless to say that one had to be cleaned up!
