Who does not like to wash and buff roofs and the top middle section of the hood? Lol

Hood doesn't bother me, roof on the other hand are sometimes a pain. Kinda annoying trying not to cave it in with minimal weight applied. Thankfully not all roofs are like this!

hahahaha yea on those long nose hoods and suv's roofs, definitely challenging and works out the shoulders

I solved the roof problem. I can't really buff mine lol. About all I can do with it is seal it.

Al I care about detailing right now, is my Crossfire. The hardest part are the lower panels. The roof and hood are easy!

Yep they can be a pain! but all panels are just part of the job and its got to be done. I'd much rather stand on a platform than lie on the floor!

I agree with rockbasses roofs arent to bad getting down to the rockers and back up now thats hard

id rather lay down than to reach across and try to control my flex lol :buffing:

Luggage racks on tall SUVs are the worst. Not as bad now that I have work platform from the Lowes Black Friday deal.

No fancy platform but I do bring a 2 step ladder with me to the facility I work at.
So far I've only had to use it once, but it's nice to have on hand.

I am very happy with the Werner Platform also. I can actually get to the roof of my truck without opening the doors.

never had a problem with any portion; roof, hood or other.

the problem could be a height issue for some members.
the $ work bench from lowes black friday special solves the roof issue.

I can reach all the areas on the hood, so no big deal there, I use the werner platform or a small plastic 2-step ladder for the roof. It's just the hassle of moving it side to side that I don't like. Also have to use to reach the middle of the windshield and the back window.

got arthritic knees and ladder work kills them. suv with roof racks are the worst. anybody notice that the large expanse of metal flexes when the polisher goes across.

I have to admit, I cheat a little. My truck has a hard tonneau cover which makes it much easier to reach the roof.

This only works for polishing though. Try to do that during a wash and you will likely bust your a$$.

The only thing I'm nervous about tackling the roof is accidentally denting/dinging the door or quart panel. I just know it'll happen one of these days... lol

Yeah my Dodge Ram Mega Cab is a super pain to polish. HOWEVER I do use it as my "testing" area as I know if I screw up no one will be able to see any mistakes I make up there. I usually have to lay on the edge of the back of the roof just to reach everything.

On a big SUV/truck I'd wash/clay/seal the roof and call it a day. Unless your very tall, its very hard to machine polish the roof anyways, then there's the roof racks that most of em' have, so why bother, not to mention what others have mentioned about the roof buckling. In the end, who see's the roof? Not trying to cut corners but being realistic, thyat's all.

I guess it finally pays to be 6'6" and have the wingspan to match :)
