Who from AG Mods the Facebook Group?

I used to be a mod on Autopia and even we wouldn’t “punish” a member for something like this. We would enforce the rules though and members would be warned if they were being uncivil to one another. From what I see here, this is hardly that.

I have zero tolerance for people who are outwardly rude for no reason, are just spewing nonsense without facts to back them up, or people just bent on disagreeing with others for the sake of disagreeing.

AGO is 99.99% free of these kinds of parasites, and FB is riddled with them.

Enough said.

Let's be real-- that's kind of a Facebook thing, not just AG101.

The AG Facebook group, as far as I can tell, is just inhabited by people that hate chemical guys, people that scoff at anything non rupes, and just your average trolls. It’s probably one of the more toxic detailing groups I was part of. I left it after a week or two, I think.

It was a really disappointing experience when I was apart of it. There was a handful of people that wanted to genuinely help, but most of what I saw on there was just really bad. Definitely nothing like this forum.

Well, we live in a world of snowflakes now. You will have to learn to deal with it.

I once was banned from a FB group for saying to someone that insulting someone for asking a question was not the best way to help him. The guy I said that to was the moderator (I did not know but it really made my comment even more important). Anyone can start FB groups and there are a lot of power hungry idiots running them.

If you get banned for something really stupid, that is a good way to know that group is gonna be crap anyway.

There are a lot of good FB groups out there. I am part of a few of them. The way I see it, it is really dependant on how good the moderators are.

Agree. I'm going to likely leave the group. It's actually disappointing given it's supposed to represent AutoGeek right? I'll leave my decision until next week and pull the trigger then.

You were right, that car is fugly. I hate those chrome wraps. Pimp My Ride tastes.

I dont have facebook either and the Velsoter N forum is dead too. Maybe cause its a small niche car but there are A holes on there already with just 300 members. Ive already put 2 people on ignore cause of stupid crap they spew out of their keyboards.

This is reason 523 while I will never be on FB.

I will stick to my forums as long as they exist.

That's my experience as well.

Just like anything in life, there's good and bad, I just find the bad a lot more willing to reveal themselves on Facebook groups and Facebook in general. Also in the comments section of YouTube. While there are plenty of good comments on both these social media touch points there's more than enough ugly to go around. Actually surprising what you see others say or more accurately, type for the world to see. It's as though there's no accountability or responsibility.

I hear people say,

Forums are dead

I disagree. Forums attract high caliber people, just like my classes. Forums are superior for education, that is sharing substantial information in a format that lends itself to being easily absorbed and retained and then later referenced. Facebook groups can't compete at this level, the interface is too limiting. If Facebook fixed this, that is created an interface that is more like a forum, that would at least make the interface functional.

The word I use to describe anything posted to Facebook is,

Fleeting

Like a vapor, it's here for a moment and then gone.

The movie Idiocracy comes to mind when I think of the trend social media is going.

FB and Twitter are 2 prime platforms of social media for trolls. Forums seem to have a much higher level of maturity and decorum. People actually want to be helpful and communicate appropriately.
Just my 2 cents.

Mostly because forums have mods that actually mod.

I got off FB 8-9 years ago, maybe more...my only social media now is a little twitter observing and AGO. AGO is more my speed since everyone is very nice, helpful, and encouraging...and it's pretty cool to see the amazing work out there!
