Who has auto lifts in their home garages?

Well since I said 2 post then I would assume we are getting a 2 post ;)

Picking one up from Greg Smith Equipment Sales.

sorry can't believe i missed that. If your going with a two post i know they offer a couple different brands. I would recommend the direct lift over the atlas. Direct lift has a few better features as well as great customer service and a fully stocked parts warehouse in Madison IN. Enjoy your new lift they make lift so much easier. I had my truck on and off my Rotary countless times in the 2 years i was rebuilding it

Thanks for the info, we are looking at the Master Series XL-9. Haven't made the purchase yet so feel free to give your opinion.

not a bad lift for the price. You just have to ask them how they rate there lifts. Some manufacturers are known to over rate there lifts. Most common rating for lifts should be the cap. the arms can handle before failure x that by 4 and you have your cap.

The master series uses a chain roller over hydraulic system, which in my opinion is old technology. The chain doesn't add any strength and the constant movement of metal on metal eventually wears through the roller on the top of the cylinder. If the roller on the top is welded to the cylinder when it goes bad you would have to replace the whole cylinder ( big $$$).

Also the lift appears to have dual point lock release meaning you have to walk to each column and pull the locks each time you wish to lower the lift. where direct lift uses a safety latch cable going to both columns allowing for single point lock release right by the lowering valve on the power unit so no walking back and forth. You also have to remove a cover plate on the side to adjust those locks in and out.

The adapters and columns are very similar to the direct lift other then the direct lift is a little thicker on the top assembly and overhead beam.

the direct lift just seems a little more user friendly, i can't speak for master series customer service, but as a distributor i know direct lifts is awesome ( no waiting 30-60 for parts from china)

hope this helps in your decision,

Paul,

not American Made, but they do own there own factory and control all the operations, so the lifts are built to there specs, and not just a chinese lift they put a sticker on.

we are a distributor in Michigan, greg smith's guys should be able to answer these questions or atleast tell you the difference. But if you have any more questions or would like to talk you can reach me at [email protected] or call 616-805-1154 for Automotive Lift and Alignment
