Who likes a waffle weave drying towel over an ultra plush drying towel? Me! Drying towel review.

The hardness is from soap still in the towel.

I agitate in soapy water and "kneed" the towel in the solution.

2 rinses in clean water gives good results.

Just because they may get a little hard with age, doesn't mean they'll scratch. I have 1 that's almost 2 yrs. old and 1 that I just bought recently and I wouldn't hesitate to use the older 1 on paint. [even though it's been demoted to grills/bumpers/lower portions]

Once they start getting harder they don't touch paint at all. They get demoted to glass only. They tend to marr as they get harder. Just from personal experience. For a cheap drying towel it's decent but not my go to.

I double rinse them in the wash to get rid off all microfiber detergent as I do with my other towels.

I used them both today... Can you tell which 1's the new towel vs. the old? Of course you can.

The thing I like about my old Water Magnet is I can use it mainly for final touch up duty with the Blaster Sidekick, and to dry those unapealing areas like window moldings and bumpers instead of risking my newer drying towels. It may be a little rough around the edges, but it does good grunt work:)

I like using my Blaster Sidekick for drying. I had left it on the shelf for quite awhile and just brought it back in use recently. A change in technique has worked well.

I now use it in combination with a drying towel. First, knocking most of the water on a panel off. Followed by lightly bringing the towel across the panel with the air pointing at the front of the towel. It's a lot like wiping a towel over an air hockey table. It gets the job done with very low friction (it kind of floats). Plus, you have the added benefit of having a blower anywhere water might get trapped (and a towel in the other hand keeping the blown out water in check). It works pretty well.

My favorite drying towel is a 16x16 pfm towel from griots.

You can do a whole car without ringing it out it really is amazing try it.

Agreed! Without a doubt the best drying towel I've ever used in all my years of detailing. Expensive, but worth every penny.

I used to use waffle weave. Now I use the pluffle. I think that's the name

You weren't kidding! I finally tried using a 16x16 PFM detail towel to try drying my pick up and Taurus and it is hands down the best drying towel I have. I could not believe I dried the entire truck with one little towel. On my Taurus I used a PFM towel and 1 16x16 pluffle WW towel to wipe up any streaks of water that may have been left behind, but that wasn't until the PFM started to get saturated.

I think I like the PFM towel better as a drying towel than for LSP application/removal.

I've seen the 16x16 pfm towels at my local pep boys.

How much?

I saw them a few weeks ago. I'm going off memory but I believe they were priced the same as they are on here. By the way detailing dot com is having a free Griot's demo this Saturday at 10am.

Oh yea? Thx for the word. I didn't know that.

I've been getting them at AA for $10 a piece. Been using the AA Speed Perks discount on them for getting them for $7.50 a piece

I have 8 or 10 now I think. I buy two at a time when I get some. That Speed Perks discount is $5 off a $20 purchase so I buy 2 of them. I may move them all to the drying towel drawer now.

The PFM towel is unreal. I used one 16x16 yesterday for the first time and it dried the whole car. I will be buying more!

$38.99 seems a bit high for one towel.

However if it works for you and you are happy, go for it.

Personally by the time I shipped Internationally, paid customs and exchange I could buy 3 Water Magnets (never used more than 2 to dry car complete).

My vote is for the large Griot's Garage PFM drying towel. I love it! The large PFM terry weave towel is wonderful for drying a vehicle and for wiping down panels after claying - it makes both jobs much faster.

I also use four 16x16" PFM terry weave towels for waterless washes, quick detailers, and almost everything else that is a runny liquid. I don't buff off semi-liquid residue with them, but for "wet" applications they are marvelous.

How's the performance after laundering?

Anyone notice a drop off when using certain product(s)? I'm asking because there's this one particular product that kills my towels: Sonax BSD.

Outstanding detailer/sealant, but lethal on towels once dried. Tough to get the fibers back to a satisfactory condition when that happens. One stubborn chemical.
