Corvette clear, especially the black, can be very hard. That said, clear can vary from car to car for a number of reasons. Also, from the picture you posted, it doesn't look like that vehicle had any really deep swirling or marring, so you didn't have to remove as much clearcoat as if you had a really rough looking car.

I was bad. The clear was really hard and a PITA to do. I just upped my section pass from 5 to 9 and slowed my hand speed down to a creep.Im the MAN i must of handed out 35-40 biz. cards. folks were impressed after the menz 1500. One customer came back to see the finished product. booked him on the spot 2 Mercades-Benz.

Ah, I was under the impression from your title that you didn't encounter hard clear. Regardless, good work.

These pics were after 2 steps and a IPA wipe down.

I really dont get it with manufacturers today. If you are going to put a rock hard clear and top notch paint, you might want to justify it in price. I dont get how a 40,000 dollar vehicles could get cheap paint. Im not saying a corvette in this particular idea, but just vehicles in general

What do you consider "cheap" paint? Are you talking how they are putting less paint (thickness) on vehicles to save money, or are you referring to something else?

it was my first time using a flex 3401 DA . it was wierd to say the lest. The client got a little upset when the car wouldnt start.
It was a tester car ,the client was looking for a better detailer. The prevouse detailer just glazed/waxed in one step. so the swirls...came right back two weeks later leaving the client unhappy.
So i did the paint correction for $200 and explained it was a show case detail. I know thats way to cheap but the man has about 5 rear exotics. I also handed out about 35 bizz. cards on site.

Please explain how the 'rock-hardness' of Corvette clear-coat paint; and/or,
the Flex 3401, was involved in the: "no start" scenario?!?! :D

BTW... Looks/sounds as if you were very successful, in many areas,
of/from this detail...Good for you!! :props:

:)

The OP could have left a door cracked and let the interior lights drain the battery. But that is just a wild guess.

Who knows why the old fart got grumpy. The pics where take after the IPA wipe down. It was even more mirror like after the 845.
I left the doors open to let the carpets dry after the extraction .
It was also my first time using menz products. They work like a dreams. I will be writing reveiw soon.

Would I have been better going to menz 4500 rd85 sf for the second step??? Would I of got more gloss???

left the doors open to let the carpets dry. I get this more then I like thats y I have a batt charger just in case .I all ways start the car and pull it out side to front of shop for pick up. Before I call and tell them its ready
