well who thinks autogeek needs to step up and do a paper catalog, sure will cost money but id gladly pay a few extra dollars to have one. i suggest this because id love to be able to have one around so i dont need to search around the whole site just browsing. now the only problem i see is the new products autogeek gets in, but i have a solution. you have your autogeek master catalog with all the products as of the start date, then every 6 months print another catalog to go along with the master catalog showing all the recently added new products. so basically you buy master catalog for 4.99, then either get free new product catalogs every 6 months or have the option to pay like 1-2$ for the bi-annual catalog. imo autogeeks sales would go up because if they have in print catalogs with an order form the older guys(ones who are scared of using credit cards online or ordering online) will possibly make orders and increase sales, and i think i would increase sales so people can just look at the catalog, type in item number and there is the product you want. if i was an autogeek staff member i would bring this up to max and weigh out the pro's and cons of having an inprint catalog. if this has been discussed at autogeek id like to know why they haven't done a in print catalog. so now that is said, who agrees with me! WE NEED A IN PRINT AUTOGEEK CATALOG! we need some good reading material while were sitting on the best seat in the house! ;)

I think it would be a good idea. Throw in articles or something to give it some more reading material.

Matt,

There's nothing like sitting back and browsing every product on every single page, drooling all over, but cost is a huge consideration. If anything, maybe consider something in a PDF format that could be downloaded but a nice paper catalog will be very costly and would impact product cost.

I thought this was an interesting idea when I clicked on the thread. Then I realized that I never read the Griot's catalogs I get in the mail and just go to their website when I'm interested in looking around at stuff.

see if we were to pay for the paper catalogs it would not impact product costs.

I'm the opposite, I have one in the WC and always read it!!

Hard print copy will never happen. PDF version now that could grow legs.

print>profits

if you are a serious detailer (big orders) you probably use AGO which means you order online. (also factor codes)

And that's what Meguiar's did after "printing" a paper catalog for decades.

Not cost effective considering the options.

:)

Maybe a .pdf "circular", but paper would be out of date by the time you print it up. I think a well-organized web site is way better than either one though.

Palm Beach Motoring Group actually started as a catalogue company and published a total of twelve catalogues before becoming an online retailer. A catalogue is not offered because the cost per print, the cost for postage and not being able to provide the wealth of information that our website does. It’s impossible to be competitive with a catalogue because prices are locked in at least three months ahead. If we had an item marked for $15 in a catalogue and the same item could be found for $12 elsewhere online, it would take months before the new price was reflected. There is no price that you could charge to offset what’s involved considering the products and services that we provide. That’s why we offer a YouTube Channel, DVDs, Mike Phillips’ book (in print!) and handbooks on some products, the latter of which can be requested upon placing an order, for free. :dblthumb2:

I remember Bob talking about the catalogs and the heavy price. I think internet is the way to go with newest products, best pricing, and late night ordering when telephones normally arent accepting sales calls.

When you consider what they're likely paying for a website and marketing, I'm guessing there isn't a whole lot to gain by printing and distributing a product catalog.

You should just mount a computer monitor on the wall adjacent to your toilet and get a wireless keyboard with touchpad built in. That way you never need to leave your favorite seat in the house. lol! All you would need is a mini fridge and microwave in there and you would be set!

Nick said it best....no to the catalog....for all his reasons and to just common business sense, sir

I wouldn't pay for a catalog - a catalog is a showing of what a company has for you to buy. I love getting the Griots catalogs now and then, but I'd never pay for it.

Same way now I use the AG Iphone app since it's free.

Each to their own. A PDF version sounds good to me.

A totally useless and hugely expensive proposition. It really makes no sense whatsoever with the web at your fingertips.

was not demanding one, was more like a poll and seeing peoples thoughts that is all.
