Just curious as it seems some are a fan of undercarriage sprays and some aren't. I personally love the look they give...but they tend to be greasy and some drip.

I was wondering your thoughts and if some of the experts could chime in with their favorite.

and if you don't use one....what do you do to get the wheel wells really clean and black on SUVs?

Thanks much.

when i detail my f350 pickupi always use under carrage spray. my truck has a smalllift so itlooks nice spraying the wheel wells and shocks. i let it dry a little then give it a quick wipedown.. looks nice and black and smells like grapes:dblthumb2:

What brand of undercarriage spray do you prefer?

Griot's has an undercarriage spray. It has a heavier (silicone?) smell than the Adam's grape smelling one that trhland mentions but both will linger for a while if left in a closed garage after application. It seems to work the same. I could not tell any difference but never really did a side by side test.

Spraying then spreading like with an applicator does even out the appearance. Aerosol tire sprays (like Meg's) make quick undercarriage sprays too..spray and walk away. They are just not as cost effective.

Woundnt tire dressing or WD40 work as a undercarrage spray.

Most of the UC sprays are way to greasy for my taste(griots, CG, etc...). I normally use an aersol spray like Duragloss #265, Stoners more shine, or CD-2. They all work great....

I like cheap aerosol sprays for those areas, as much as Griots Undercarriage Spray. CG made a nice one called Fade to Black but I can get stuff like Stoners More Shine cheaper locally at Wallyworld.

I just use Armor All Tire Foam for wheel wells. Helps clean and looks great. I just wish I could find an aerosol that is cheaper.

A foaming aerosol is a great idea because it will foam, not drip, correct?

I just use Hyper Dressing in one of those pump-type garden chemical sprayers... makes it easy to apply and comes out looking great. Good for use on engines and as tire dressing too.

Stoner's More Shine but used prior to any polishing/seal/wax. The inevitable overspray will put tiny dots all over your finished work if you do it the other way around.

my wifey seems attracted to every small puddle. With the SUV it doesnt get on paint but wheelwells seem to get dirty as quick as I clean and protect them.

I do not prefer the foam aerosols, as they seem to spit more and drip everywhere.

I have GG UC in a garden sprayer. I spray and walk away. I just got 2 gallons of Megs ASD on July 4 blowout sale for $20 each. I like it too. I also got Sprayway tire foam deressing on BOGO and like it very much in wells too. Opti Bond works great too. Lots of good options including any tire dressing.

u can really use anything. black wow. optimum tire dressing.. to save money instead of buying a dedicated spray...

I've just been using whatever OTC product I have on hand, right now it's Megs Hot Shine tire spray. I just spray it in the wheel wells and walk away. Somehow I had failed to figure out that a simple spray down in the wells works miracles, and had not been doing anything to the wells. I think it was Jenn's thread "Wheel wells are going to be the death of me" that turned on the light in my head. :xyxthumbs:
