okay so im taking a speech class this semester and for our next speech it has to be strictly informative and between 4-6 minutes long. im trying to think if i could fit the whole detail process in a 4-6 minutes speech or if i should just talk about a very intensive luxury car wash, or if i should talk about what the average joe can do to keep his/her car in good shape. any opinions??
who wants to give me advice for a speech? lol

Four to six minutes is not very long for passing info (speech) so I wouldn't try to fit the whole detail process. Pick one specific facet of the process and build on that. Your average Joe thought sounds good. Include something that everyone will find intriguing like swirl marks and can't wait to see if their car has them.
I'm coming back with this edit since I thought of an area most know nothing about but I think will find interesting "Claying".

I am taking speach also, I thought about doing the same thing.
I dont think you can describe the hole process. You could talk about it, but its to much information for the class to learn, and apply.
I am thinking about just doing the wash, clay, pre-wax, and seal steps. These are the most important steps for stoping clear coat failure. And I feel that I can describe these steps in 6 mins so that some could possibly apply the information.

4-6 minutes is a lot longer than you think, if you are speaking constantly and not "ummm'ing" a lot. If you want to break down the entire process into three steps - wash/prep, polish, and wax, then you will have time for an introduction (30-45) seconds, three main points of about 1 minute each, and a conclusion (30 seconds). Keep the talk structured and highlight the main points and importance of each step, and you should be able to cover everything.
In high school I was on the speech team and we would have to cover current events for 5-7 minutes with only a 30 minute prep time. 6 minutes is a lot longer than you think when you realize that you don't have enough material! Just outline your talk, practice a few times and add/remove where you need to and you will do great. I don't think that you will be able to deliver a very interesting, or long enough talk if you only talk about washing, or one area of the entire process.
You will probably get bonus points if you have a good attention grabber in your introduction (don't you wonder how cars on TV always look incredible!?) and can deliver the entire thing without having to read anything. That's why knowledge of the subject and a simple outline along with practice is crucial.

oh im an english major and love speech
if your interested on something informative
give a lecture on why you shuld spend 200$ or so to get your car detailed
give examples of cheap mo-fos that spend 100,000$ on a car yet go down to 'rinse & scratch' car wash to spend only 8$ a wash
talk about how us detailers are often under rated and get critizies for 'charging' too much
talk about the process used, the many polishes and waxes, how much each of them cost, what carnuba is, what a sealnt is, how long protection will last,
basicllay..if u were a detailer selling yourrself to a millionare...sell them your service!

oh wow thanks a lot for the tips guys. yeah i think im going to take your suggestions. my professor seems to be really strict about the speech being strictly informative. she wants no persuasion whatsoever and thats goign to be the challenge. because im going to be so tempted to say "dont take your car to the automatic car wash"

Ha, imma in a speech class and doing the same thing for my demonstrative next week. I was going to do just a basic wash and wax on the outside. I have to have mine at 12min. I was going to do a power point with massive pictures and then a demo with tools on an "imaginary" car.
