WHOA! Did anyone else here in Florida feel the 6.0 earthquake that happened at 11am this morning 240 miles off the west coast of Florida? I asked my wife what the heck that rumbling was and then I FELT it. It was like brief, intense thunder for about 5-10 seconds. She didn't hear it or feel it and thought I was screwed up in the head! lol....

About an hour after, they came on the news and said there was a 6.0 earthquake in florida that was felt in North Carolina!

Folks, I've lived here for 30 years and that's a first for me!!!!!! I'm kind of weirded out by it:(

Wow! It happened in the Gulf of Mexico. I've never heard of that before and I've lived in Texas for all but 5 years of my life. The first 30 in Houston!

I was in San Diego when they had aminor earthquake and it does feel very queer. Very disconcerting!

Wow I had lived in Fl for 26 yrs and I never heard or felt one.

I was looking up some info and apparently Florida had some damaging quakes in the 17-1800's moreso along the Gulf Coast...........your all fawked :D

Woah. My family's been in Florida for 5 generations now and I've never heard of an earthquake off of our coast! I didn't even think we were on a plate boundary!

No shaking going on in my house, or bedroom, for that matter this weekend. Guess it must have been on the other coast only !!

They say it was felt as far as North Carolina. It was definitely felt throughout Florida, including me in central Fl. Sounded and felt like long, deep thunder and rattled my sliding glass doors and windows in the house! Also resembled blasting in the area(rock mine). I knew it definitely wasn't thunder though.....a little more intense and you could feel it. Definitely was odd for me. Now the damn insurance companies are going to have earthquake deductibles and raise our insurance another 75%!!!

Whoa, just read about the earthquake on CNN. Hope all those beautifull cars down there ddint get damaged!

It's amazing the power of nature. We all know what a hurricane can do, but it is amazing to me that an earthquake 6.5 miles below the surface of the Gulf of Mexico could be felt so far away! Amazing! I didn't feel anything or hear anything though at my house.

I did not feel it but then again I sleep during the day. I was in a few when I lived in Cali, I think the best way to describe the feeling is.....more like a fluid rocking rather than a back and forth sawing motion. like if you were on top of a huge piece of jello and someone flicked it. Dont even joke about insurance and raising rates.:(

i live in jax,fl and i didnt feel a thing, i work night though and went to sleep round five a.m. ....was in a real on in san francisco, scared the hell outa me, i will stick with hurricaines thanks.
