Why Did I buy a black car!

Definitely Not for days like this...

but more for days like this...

The snow pics were taken a few weeks ago, funny how I end up taking very similar shots of my car at similar angles.

Finally after several weeks of filth I was granted my wish of above freezing weather to wash my car.

Of course my simple plan of foaming, ONR'ing and a once over on the wheels truned into a full on exterior detail.

Quick process:

-Foam w/ Maxi suds
-2BM w/ GI gloss shampoo and maxi suds
-Gi wheel gel
-Tarminator on tires (works great for deep cleaning)

The car was wearing I believe 5coats of GI gloss finish but since I wont be polishing it for another month or so I decided to add 2 more coats as a top up.

-GI Signature Gloss sealant appied via gold LC foam and flex
-GI Concourso Gloss applied over Signature Gloss by hand
-Final GI gloss enhancer wipedown
-GI Signature Tire gloss on tires
-2 more coats of Rejex on the wheels


A 1 hour wash turned into a 4hour detail:doh:

But as long as the nice weather is around I couldnt be happier

Heres some interior pics, did not detail the inside yesterday

I really like the cinnamon on aluminum, something a little different I think

Of course black is a true PITA to keep clean but when it is clean there is just nothing better:righton:


And yes I know my tailpipes are dirty, I didnt feel like doing them yesterday so I simply left them as is.

You bought black because it's the only color that gives the best reflections and looks the best when polished and clean. Never have regrets in life. Your Audi looks great man. Black is also the only color that shows how much you take care of your car also.

Hahaha black is great!!! Especially on your sexy car there!!! My audi has raven black pearl paint, its a ball to detail because after im done, it looks so amazing that i dont even want to drive it hahaha.

Black cars are a paint in the butt to upkeep. No matter how carefull I am, still have very light water spots, even with AG water softener...will probably consider CR spotless, which at Costco online was $80 cheaper...

As an owner of a black car as well, while it is a pain, it sure looks amazing when clean.

And from a distance, even when dirty, outshines all the other cars around it.

That is something that really keeps me proud. My DIRTY black car outshining the other cars around it lol.

Third, you bought it black because you have the sickness that we all have around here. You demand nothing less that perfection in paint. It doesn't matter if it is a beater commuter car or a fine German sports coupe, the demand for paint perfection is the same.

Beautiful! Love the Audi A5/S5. Good move getting the manual transmission, stick shift is the only way to live.

I personally think you should get rid of the front plate. I know its law in nj/ny but in my opinion it kills the look of the car. Im in nyc,, have been driving with the back plate only for almost 5 months (of course now that i say that i will get pulled over n cited). my front plate is sitting in the trunk.

I hope you didnt drill into the bumper unless its a lease then whocares.

I tried doing that when I got my Subaru because I hated the way it looks with the front plate. That only lasted for a month or so, then I got pulled over and received a $100 fine. I would imagine that they have bigger problems to worry about in NYC than people without a front plate.

Yep cops are pretty quick to nab you if you do not have a front plate here in NJ. Theres no way around it, kinda sucks and it breaks up the flow of the front end but I cannot change it. Wish we had european style plates over here:righton:

The only other option is to display the license plate on the inside of your front windshield, but I don't like that personally. I see some Evo's running around like that as the drivers do not want the front plate to block their aftermarket front mount intercoolers.

You still haven't told me what GI stands for.
