Why Do Folks Use Multiple DA Polisher?

Griots has a 2" plate setup you could use for your gg3

Thanks! Just added that to my list for the next purchase order ;)

And Lake Country announced a line of 2 inch and 1 inch pads too, no more hand made stuff if you want small pads ;)

The Rupes was my main polisher for 4 years but it died on me and the repair center told me that the issue is the electronic control unit and they are supposedly very expensive. Since I live in Canada it would already cost me an arm and a leg to send it to the USA for repair so with that added to the repair cost, it would very likelly come close to buying a new one. So I am done with Rupes.

The GG Boss 15 is now my main polisher. I don't like it as much as the Rupes 21 but it works. It stalls more than the Rupes even if the orbit is shorter, so I should have gotten the 21mm one instead since I do have to switch to my short throw polisher anytime there are curves on panel

That's unfortunate. Seems like a machine as well made (?) as that would back you up on a failure of any kind.

Just my observation. And, yeah...... I know I might hear that same old stuff that others have thrown at me. But, I'm just making my observations upon reading posts from others.

The tech told me the brushes were like new, so it seems I am not abusing it ;) Why the electronic control failed, I have no idea. And the thing is, it worked perfectly, I put it away for the night and on the next day it would not turn on. So i am baffled by this.

For this hobbyist:

8mm...different backing plates used with this.
15mm
Forced rotation..

Our cars are in great shape paint wise with proper wash procedures so polisher are only used twice a year or when I screw up something.

Polishers have their on cabinet , shelf so I can look at them and wipe them off :)

Sometimes you NEED a different ACTION to accomplish the goal.

Here's a classic example on a classic old 2-door European job....

I cut the paint using the FLEX 3401 to know out the correction step fast. Then I did the finish polishing step using a free spinning 8mm random orbital polisher.

In post 31 Crazy Amos asked,

What made you decide to finish out with the GV110 vs the Flex?

I answered him in post #32
