why do so many dislike armorall

I wouldn't be able to justify using AA on a customers car. I've heard it's much better to educate them about the importance of maintaining your car so they will come back for more rather than applying a product that does more harm than good...

As someone else said, there are much better options available at around the same cost or even lower..

I think all of the fuss about AA is warranted...

A few weeks ago I used some "bought for me" Armor All on my tires and dash. On the tires it has been holding up fantastically with the tires remaining a clean matte/semi gloss black finish even after a few washings and tons of rain and road miles.

On the dash I applied it and after wiping off the excess, it dried to a non-greasy, non dust attracting finish. It's a bit dusty/dirty NOW, but I drive with the windows down to and from work (95 mile round trip highway) which lets a lot of debris inside the car. It still doesn't look greasy and it looks like the dust etc on the dash will come off with a simple dusting. Too, the windshield hasn't fogged from evaporating AA coming off the dash.

I personally haven't used the stuff in years until my family bought me an Armor All detailer's kit last Christmas and when I detailed my car last month, I didn't have anything to put on the tires/dash except for the AA.

All I can say is non-greasy, good looks and serious longevity (compared to what I remember about AA) ... I was impressed. And when I took my car to my former boss' detail shop to show off the Klasse twins, he asked what was on my tires and was very surprised to hear that it was Armor All, especially when I told him that it hadn't JUST been applied and that it had been on over two weeks and the washings and rains it had been subjected to.

I'm definitely going to buy a regular sized bottle and experiment some more with it.

I used to use AA all the time. Now I think there are better products out there.

Unused to use it all the time. My wife likes the look of it on her interior so I'm kinda going back I it. I do like how long I lasts and the look. I used to use it once a week usually. I've never had an issue with it on any vehicle I've had. Especially my 7yr old black truck that is outside in the heat mostly all day. I call BS on the more harm than good, but that's my opinion. I just think people have their different preferences and opinions on different products and that's what it comes down to.

my concern is, will people look down on me and my buisness because i use a product on their vehicle that can be bought at any and every big box store? even though i am able to get the same exact results as someone else using the "professional" product?

This is only MY opinion but, yes i think people may look down on you if you are using big box store products. When I think of "professional" I think of them using professional products that i do not have access to. I think it gives some credibility to the person offering the service.

Plus think of it this way, if the customer is pleased with your service and wants some product to keep up thier vehicle that is your chance to do an upsell. If they can only get it from you they will keep coming back.

This may not be the most 'honest' suggestion, you could just re-bottle the AA into another generic spray bottle.

Use what you like is what Mike P. teaches.
If you like then stick with it.

But you said your going into business.
Most people don't like AA, thus most of your customers don't like it.

If your trying to be a pro don't buy your supplys from Target.

If you want to be a pro then buy pro products.

People love that I'm hooked up with Meguiar's and I get a lot of business because of that.
I'm a pro. I look like a pro. I act like a pro. And my customer love that.
