I suppose it all depends on perspective. Most "tradesman" type professions are thankless jobs, despite the important role they play in the overall daily workings of society. There are people out there who are plenty happy doing those type of jobs and even enjoy knowing that they are making a difference for someone somewhere.

I completely agree, we just take for granted that things "work".. I in no way meant to disparage plumbing/plumbers.

Most of the people I do business with don't really care about what products I use or techniques, they just want their vehicle cleaned.

Well said, in fact, as with any "enthusiastic hobbyist" anyone outside that realm is often thought of as "NUTS", including, but not limited to AGO Members. And it doesn’t help when I tell friends about the:

2 or 3 bucket wash
Special towels for washing, drying, glass.
The endless layering
Wet Gloss versus Deep Gloss
$95 for wax...ON SALE
Etc, etc, etc!

As for plumbers and other LICENSED professional crafts, I highly respect them. In fact, I've never heard of a Plummer who does it for a hobby and then decides to try and do it as a full time job, would you hire that type of guy? As far as "Professional Detailers" there is no formal training, licensing, accreditation, formal standards or organizations, so what makes them "Professional" ; just my perspective from a different viewpoint.

I agree 100% with this. I don't do this for a living more of a hobby but their has been weeks where I come home from my regular job Monday thru Friday and have 2 cars to detail on Saturday and 2 cars on Sunday. At the end of my days at work during the week I just want to relax but after detailing the cars for 8 to 9 hours straight on the weekends, I'm usually not tired and still want to detail too.

Man I wish I was like you guys that still want to keep going after 8 hours of detailing lol
If I do a 6-8 job I'm completely beat and don't want to do anything till I relax for a few. When I get done working on a car for 4- 5 hours I'm usually not wanting to do another 4-5 hours. Usually I am running around for a good 1-2 hours in the morning before I start the job or get there then I bust my ass for 4-5 hours. I then have 6-7 hours in, then I have to go home and restock stuff, clean towels, dry them, fold them...So not me lol

But the reason I am so active is because I have never worked at a shop or detailed anywhere before and in some ways it is good and others it is not. I have learned here how to do may of the things the correct way not the way dealerships or other places like it done. Then again I'm sure if I worked at a shop I would know other little tricks here and there.

Like tuscarora dave said, This is much better hanging out here all night than sitting at a bar getting shitted faced and spend all my money.
