Why is Opti-Seal not more popular?

Slather? That almost sounds like you are using too much product.
 
I haven't ever used the Optimum OS, but I just used WGDGPS for the first time, and I was pretty much ecstatic with how easy it was to use and how unbelievably slick the car is now. WOW

At the same time, on my MX-5 I have SSII that I can enjoy applying and buffing out every few weeks. I purposefully only used that wax on it, with no sealant underneath, because I wanted to see how that product stood on it's own two legs.

When that evil awful time of year comes around where there is all this slippery white stuff, you but your buns I will use sealants on all vehicles. Maybe a couple coats.

But guess what? I'll probably top it off with a nice wax, cause I'm a car guy and I like fussing over my car.

The point about what if WOWA's came out before waxes - is an interesting point. I would agree most people would stick with WOWA's. But even now, the general consensus is a "warmer" shine with a carnauba, so they still do have their place.

NXT though? Hmm, can't think of any reason or any place I would waste my time using something like that now. There are simply better products out there...

Haha it was just a figure of speech. I've been detailing professionally for many years I'm pretty good at putting at a thin layer and no more.

Being a hobbyest, or is it hobbiest myself, I do like using different products on different surfaces. While I like products to be easy to use, they dont have to be a one product can do it all. In fact its my personal belief that a jack of all trades might be good on many things, but not great on any one thing. Products that are specialized for a particular surface seem to work better than a product not so.

Having said that, I used WGLS when I bought my car 8 months ago, followed by a coat of Fuzion (which I love to use not because it looks great, but smells so good and is so smooth to the feel to use). I have maintained the paint with different quick detailers and spray waxes every couple of weeks and the water beading and sheeting is still relentless. However, I did not like what WGLS did on the windows or the rest of the car.
 
Ultima IMO, was the king in the WOWA area because UPGP was so awesome! OS was good, never tried the Zaino offering. I liked OS the few times I tried it, but once BFCS and WGDGLS came out, IMO they offered more of the looks I wanted.

In the end it all depends on you, your car and your taste so roll with it! :)

I do love Liquid Seal though, that stuff is awesome, nice base for Fuzion too!

Do you feel that OS, LS, CS each provide a different look? I have only used OS and wondered is CS or LS looked the same or not.

I do feel they do have differing looks. With crystal seal I notice that same Blackfire look, that diamond like light reflection. With the liquid seal, much like deep gloss, very warm feel, on my car I can notice a difference.

Thanks Chris! What is your opinion of the Opti-Seal look, and do you like the CS and LS looks better? Just trying to pick your brain because you have tried all three! BTW happy Saturday to ya!:xyxthumbs:
 
Just remembered I had Opti-Seal on the shelf because of this thread. I did the daughters Twilight metallic blue yesterday and it definately amped up the reflection. Did the Wife's sand colored Toyota this morning which increased the reflection but not as much as the dark color. I had used the Zaino Clear Seal before on my Driftwood colored truck and it turned out like the Toyota. The Daughters car was sealed about 3 months ago with DG 601/105 and the Toyota about a month ago with DG 601/501.

I love opti-seal! Got some thru the samples thread last year and have used it a couple of times. It's so easy to use! Maybe it doesn't provide the best shine, but the protection is amazing.

I didnt want to start a new thread
but i have a question regarding optiseal..
car is a black infiniti g37 -- soft soft paint
everytime i use optiseal with the yellow pads that it came with it
it leaves scratches... does this happen to anyone else?
 
How hard are you pressing on the pad and paint? There should be just enough pressure (which is very little) to evenly spread the sealant.
 
i would say not hard at all... im thinking its my paints fault that its just so soft.
I end up spreading the optiseal with my da and a blue pad
 
When I went to Detailing in Irvine,CA I asked about Opti Seal and how many cars it can do. They brought out the bottle and it said 4-5 cars. That's the main reason I did't buy it, because I wanted something that would last for more cars. So I went with PL.

If that blue pad is of the 5.5 in. variety, it might be easier just to hold it in your hand. At least it would be for me.

I think I've done my car 3-4 times plus my brother-in-law's Rocker-C and Street Glide and have about 5/6 of a bottle remaining.
 
Interesting, I just went off the back of the bottle.

But 30+ car's would have been a great buy.
