Why isn't everyone using coatings if it is "better" than sealants?

I am not sure that I understand part of your post. Sprinklers need to be avoided - however, and at least with Opti Coat/Gloss Coat, IF you happen to get sprayed, you can just wash the car (ASAP) to remove what you can. The rest will self heal within 7-10 days. The key is to "wash" the surface as soon as possible.

my issue of waterspots is not from washing but instead from random water from the road, sprinklers that the wind blows as I drive by or any other weird random water source in the desert. the coating while does not stop them 100% after yesterdays wash, it is doing much better at keeping them at a minimal level then any wax or sealant
