I am frequently asked .......

Why do our cars need paint protection? why must opti coat?

Allow me to elaborate further

Why not just glass coating? Nano? Flourin? Etcs
Good point....
every owner who purchase a new car Would like to do some initial protection...for easier maintenance for days to come
thus 90 % if the paint damaged by wrong techniques of maintenance

Therefore it is equally important than the initial coating is prep and installed correctly

we are at the age of information
More informations we can handle than any other generations - marketing has became so aggressive - no wonder consumers get more confused!!!!!!!!!

on the uncoated side - Left side

pay more attention on the Left side - swirls & rids became very visible

simple conclusion
better protection = means lesser contamination = means lesser scratches gonna to be inflicted during washing (a coated surface is a tension surface - better repellent) in this case better protection on the coated side

by this time differences is more define

see again
on this very left side (uncoated) very visible scratches can be seen

as compare with the protected side (it is not so much of an issue)

Its refreshing to actually see proof that a product does what it claims, specifically coatings which are boasting all kinds of lofty durability claims that we are apparently supposed to believe sight unseen.

Opti Coat is surely the real deal...unless my lying eyes are acting up again.

Is this the be all end all for waxing?

Put this on, never have to wax your car again in 3 years?

I never waxed my car for 4.5 years, since the ever day I did Opti-Coat. Weekly ONR wash, monthly OCWash, and occasionally apply some OID for extra slickness.

Surely there is some little swirls here and there due to the years, but the paint condition, the color and depths still superb.

oh that's no fair. You have it garaged or under car cover.

I leave my car outside 24/7 under California sun.

I don't want to opti coat my car because I feel like it'll take the fun out of detailing. But I do think there is a place for it and that's for cars that don't get cared for often and need good protection from the elements.

Ok, minus the car cover. The photo was taken with car cover because I am about to go for a trip for a week the very next day, knowing that it rains always in our country with tropical weather I just could not think of any other way.

Under the roof, yes... But it is not a garage, the front and back of the car still subject to heavy sunshine and rains.

You got your point... But in our country with tropical weather, it rains now and hot sun the next hour... Watermarks baking in the very moment we left it there. To me, it is a way to ease of the detailing process (should we need to correct off some stray watermarks once in a time)

I could definitely see it helping in your situation then. Luckily the weather where I live is mild.

Hi silver fox lol
It was fun after all long 3 year

Excellent write up. Thanks for putting the time and effort. Very nice.
Hi Francisco
Just like waiting for our children to grow up

Is this the be all end all for waxing?

Nope!!!!! U don't need the effort of buffing and topping up
A regular wash and OID it! Mamamia results!

agreed ! That's effortless
Especially here rains almost every alternate days and sun goes up to 36-38 Celsius! It's insane to keep our car sparkling clean

But we can have running water washing our ride daily

I remember your cover when yr neighbor was doing the renovations , dusty & loose debris flying around

The last pic was taken in our Hive

Gee , great results for a 4.5 yr application !
Yupp
Waiting for my Nissan 2face update I got a 5 years old pic

I still does detailing minus off paint correction
My engine,Interior, wheels, exterior rubber still need a lot of TLC
Other than that

I got time ! Time to do other more fun full thins

But I don't need to waste time correcting my paint and this without coating days, I scrap off my clear of over doing

If u still have wax left over put it on

I have opti coat and have been debating if I should apply it on my car after I correct my cars paint.

I am kinda on Killa's side, it would take the fun out of everything :D

When a car is opti coated, does a wax or a sealant bond? Or it slides off?

I wouldn't mind opti coating my car, then just applying waxes and sealants, (just for kicks) lol

It will be there just for a day or two... Since the coating rejects them. For me, I just use Optimum Instant Detailer once in a while when I miss the silk/slick/slippery (insert any related words) feel. But using OID did help me blow off the dust way easier using a blower.
