Hey guys just a thought, why would anybody ( unless you have money to burn ) spend $40 on 1 drying towel when there are lots of great towels available for much less. IMO
Steve

I take it you're referecing the Griot's PFM Towels?

I have 3 and can say they are most certainly PFM. Worth it? Meh.....my technique has change as I do rinseless only and dry mainly with a leaf blower. I then go over my car with a simple 16x16 MF Rag and detail spray.

The use of the blower for me is mainly because I want to get water out of joints and what-not as I can't stand seeing streaks or spots after taking it out and around the block.

Whenever I get a little tentative
about spending THE BIG BUCKS
on a consumer item---that has
some comparable alternatives,
often with much lower price tags...

I just remember to apply this
ages-old saying:

"Will they fight over it when I'm dead"!

It all comes down to personnel opinion, if it helps cut down time on drying for people and speeds up their process then it's worth it. I'm actual fixing to buy a few just because of all the reviews I have read. Again it's personnel opinion.:)

Right now you can buy 2 of the 16X16 PFM towels for $18.95. That's all you need to completely dry anything short of a big SUV. I much prefer the smaller drying towels for their ease of handling and I've not yet found anything thirstier than the PFM's.

I'll throw my 2 cents in....

Here's what I've learned over the years and from a mentor here at Autogeek...

Never spend another man's money

I'd quote the person I obtained the above from by they like to work behind the scenes but it's one of the most important statements I've learned in my life when it comes to working in this world no matter what your profession.

Fanboy, ignorant, marketing, bandwagon, it's gotta be the best if it costs that much...or were you specifically looking for logical reasons?

I do think the substantial increase in cost is worth the incremental increase in performance in this case (though i have the 16x16 towels as I find they are easier to manage. I think this is a very common reason among detailers; we often accept doubling our time working to get an extra 5% or even 1% in finish quality.

Another reason? Some guys feel the need to try everything. I forgot who wrote the epic MF towel thread on the sister site and couldn't find it in a very quick search.

Very wise. And applies to so much now a days.

No need to hide Ron! Be proud that you are able to objectively utilize, assess, and share your findings so that everyone is able to know what is, or is not, valuable as a detailer!

I follow the saying "buy it once"
If i have to spend 40$ on 20 other towels to do the job of one, i would prefer to just get the one that will do the job.~

When you have a XTERRA, you have some area to dry. I currently use the large dry me a river. I would like to try the large griots or the new big blue, but yea cost is a factor. But you have some good sales going on. But you reach a point in cost on drying towels, that a Mc kee's turbo dryer might be a better option!

I have one of the large PFM drying towels.....I've tried a few others, and like this one the best...hands down. Did I ever think I'd spend almost 40.00 on one towel?....nope...am I glad I did?....yup

Same here. So glad I decided to try it. I got it on sale so didn't pay full price, but once you use it you'll see that it's worth it.
