This just "CYA" thing? The plastic bags they come in list the operating range and then the max rpms, the max being 2500. WTH, I can't use them at that rpm, I need at least 5000rpm for swirls and polishing. Is there a known issue or does this effect warranty in some way?

Kinda saddened.

I think your confusing RPM with OPM (orbits per minute), RPM is for the rotary, 5K RPM and cutting pad would not only eat through your paint quickly but pry your metal body work as well LOL.;)

I use the Edge pads on my PC at speeds 5-6, or 6K OPM.

I don't think rotaries can even get to 5K, can they? lol

But like Surfer said, OPM is different than RPM.

rotaries only go up to like 3000 max i think, and PC's dont go near that speed. you can use them at full speed on a PC. you can use them at full speed on a rotary as well, although that is highly unrecommended to go that high

I was under the impression that even with a rotary all you really need is about 1500 to 2000 RPM to break down the polish/compound.

I agree with Surfer, 5000RPM would do serious damage to your car.

Just my opinion.

Ah thanks for clearing it all up, it didn't make sense to me the way I was seeing it!!! OPM's ah.....

I'm not sure if a rotary can even go to 5K rpm, if it can, think that would leave a hole in your body work or catch the pad on fire LOL.

I crank my PC to 6 when polishing/compounding with Edge Pads.
