What happened was some guy decided to offer a synthetic wax for sale, and decided to smack on carnaubas as old-school. He didnt even call his product a wax like it is , but a polish which it isnt. He then told everyone to wash their old carnauba off with Dawn as it strips grease in his sink, so it must work equally well on a car, not remembering that carnauba is more than just an oil or grease. He also failed to take into account that an extremely alkaline product, used to often, could damage rubber surrounds and might be overused by his legion of fans. So ...many years later, even though he recanted, many still believe the myth of the dishwashing liquid Dawn.
